Moving a future HOF 3b to 1b when he’s 20 is dumb. Easier to find 1b rentals than fill 3b.

Maybe he is a future HOF first baseman. Who is to say?

Harder to find a FA 1b than a 3b. Leave Devers alone.

Pedey is meeting with orthopods tomorrow to see if he needs knee surgery. I can almost guarantee something will be done. He came back and looked like a total shell of himself

Thank Machado.

No, they were better than any other options. Not having Nunez hurts, and Farrell burrying Devers in the bottom of the order and benching him also came back to bite them.

Did we hurt the team by playing pedroia and bogey who were clearly the worst position players on our team this playoff series?

I'm not sure they had better alternatives anyway. Brock Holt would probably hit .050 if given an opportunity to play in the ALDS.

As bad as Pedroia and Bogaerts were, if Sale and Kimbrel don't s*** in the bed, the Red Sox play a game 5. Sale and Kimbrel have a lot to answer for, especially Sale, but yeah, I've never seen Pedroia play this poorly and Bogaerts is a total mess offensively and defensively. Maybe he is the SS version of A.Craig, a guy who has some good years but then loses it and never recovers.

Holt and Marrero would have given us quite the lift out there don't you think?

Nope. Holt is toast. Marrero at 2b could have been ok maybe.

It hurt more batting them 1 & 2 all series long.

That was pretty obvious; don't understand how mvp didn't get that.

MVP is just not a sarcastic kind of guy that's all. OK - No one has said it so here goes. Pedroria has lost his luster for me. He got screwed for sure on a call yesterday but I still think that he shouldn't have watched that one go by. He carried on too long. As tough as he is, he still has one shitload of baby in him. He was the one who should have been run from the game. What that tells me is that that is one selfish son-of-bitch of a move. He knows what his value is to this team. He knows who they have to back him up. That was pathetic on his part and not defensible. It is the biggest stage of the year!

So,

Pedey, HRam, Castillo and $5M a year for 4 years for Stanton.

(Joking)

Wait wait - add: Holt,Marrero, hernandez, Leon, Young, Brentz - Can't do that , we would lose all of our depth. there must be someone better out there that this haul would attract anyway don't you think.

It's hard to know what it might take to get Stanton. We know the Marlins can't afford to pay him what he's making, but he's no salary dump either.

Kimmi seems to think they'll give him away for next to nothing.

I don't think it will take what others have suggested.

Trading Bogey makes the most sense to me, but I'm not sure he's high on their list, unless they turn around and flip him for more prospects.

I'd offer Bogey, Chavis, Swihart, Beeks and Shawaryn. We could then sign Cozart and get the two bats we need.

Stanton DHs, and HRam shares 1B with Travis, I guess.

Trading JBJ forces Betts to CF and Beni to butcher RF.

Not necessarily. I would keep Betts in right if I could but would consider putting him in Center.

The move would be to put Stanton out there somewhere. I doubt that he can cover RT in Fenway anywhere near as well as Betts but would he be a drastically bad liability?

Also, when I started voicing concern about Beni's play in left people were quik to make light of it and pointed out that he had always been a CF and was making adjustments to playing LF. Now it seems people are reluctant to have him play CF because he is a butcher. Well, what is it?

I acknowledge that our outfield defense will take some kind of hit if Stanton plays there but it's not like he is a f***ing hack out there.

I just like the idea of having such a big bat and for so many years. He has what, 8 years reaming? 9? I can see him being productive for at least 5-6 at the 35-40 mark and then maybe if healthy dropping off a smidge.

I think it's worth the gamble and we can deal with extending our not so young anymore core when if happens.

Stanton's health is also a concern. I'd try to avoid trading an OF'er for him, and let him DH, if possible.

Other than protecting an expensive asset what health concerns are there?

Posted
If our intention is to put Stanton in the OF wouldn't it make more sense to trade Beni for Stanton, straight-up? But again, only of Stanton would give up the opt-out clause.

When and if Stanton goes on the block, it will be an auction. Jeter is not stupid. He's going for the best Minor Leaguers there is. Teams with the most depth. And Team controlled up and coming stars. It going to cost a lot. Haven't seen a proposal here that would make me think Jeter would say this will put our franchise in contention within 2 years. Even 3.

Jeter hired Gary Denbo to restructure their Minors, this guy is good, he helped the Yankees last 8 years build their Minors. Trades of the Relievers helped them, but this guy really was good in the International Scouting and Drafting.

Yankees have the 2nd ranked Farm that I saw, and it wasn't all because of the Trades. Their Double AA and A Teams have impressive arms, that this guy knows about.

Yanks get in on this I think were out, and if they were smart instead of paying Harper 40 million, they can get Stanton a hell of a lot cheaper.

They will be in on it.

I could see moving Devers to 1B.

If he doesn't improve defensively, I'd definitely move him.

If he doesn't improve, then you can move him after 2018 is over.

Just say (and this wont happen), but the Marlins weakest position in the Minors is Catcher, Yanks offer Sanchez, and say Acevedo, and Green, for Stanton, we got nothing to match that. JBJ and Bogaerts aren't game changers. Pitchers in the Minors don't match the talent going back to the Marlins.

Look at other areas, Martinez, and still say Notin's Trade for Abreu is fantastic.

If it won't happen, why bring it up?
