To be honest, Hembree's terrible 8th was probably a blessing in disguise. Our hitters looked awful last night despite that great 7th inning rally.

I'm as down on the hitters as anyone, but have to admit that Marcus Stroman seemed to have two very good pitches--a fastball that breaks down and a slider that breaks down and well to the right. He dominated our lineup until the 7th when they got some timely hitting.

 

Then, however, the Jays bullpen seemed to have no problem setting our guys down in order--one hit and no walks or runs in 2.1 innings.

Brock Holt has not seen MLB pitching for what 2 months? Xander hasn't done much overall of late and if Hanram isn't hitting and Moreland isn't hitting, then that's how you can get shutout (over 7 innings). Sox just have to plug away, they are in an overall hitting slump. But they will start hitting again and it will be majestic. Once that happens, the Sox will extend a lead in the division. The pitching, both starting and relieving is fine.

Brian Johnson today against the Blue Jays...... With our offense this could be an easy sweep for the Jays. The bats absolutely need to wake up today. This is getting pathetic. Hard to see us making playoffs being dead last in home runs.
