Spend less money on the Morelands of the world.

? Kind of an odd place for this comment...even after his recent slump (and keeping in mind he has been playing through an injury), Moreland has been very solid on an unobtrusive 1-year deal.

Please, no more personal attacks about fatties that have no interest in being useful for the remainder of their 8 digit contracts. It's not polite. He's out the door. Let him commence his late era Marlon Brando phase immediately. My guess is that some restaurant on Federal Hill will be very busy today.

Hahahahahahahahahaha!1!111

Even morbidly obese Brando was still making movies.

Good riddance.

From July 31-Nov. 25, 2014, Red Sox traded for Allen Craig and signed Rusney Castillo and Pablo Sandoval. $195.4 million for minus-1.5 WAR

Strong business acumen.

Makes you wonder how the Sox FO could be that stupid.

Makes you wonder how filthy rich these f***s ar that they can throw away $50. million . I will never fear that the Sox can not afford a player again.

Rusney deal was unbelievable at the time. It was the Puig Gold Rush...teams clamoring to sign an unproven player and the Sox won the bidding, sadly.

Too many cooks in the kitchen.

Jhonny Peralta was brought through the organization and released yesterday. What were they hoping for there? Now Sandoval is released. Finally they moved Devers closer to ML callup and you have to wonder about the status of Rutledge and Holt. DD says he wants to make any trades by the 31st which is now just about 2 weeks away.

If I were JH, I would warn my decision makers on personnel that bad choices would be reason for dismissal.

Price contract will pay off because he will finally win a playoff start (hoping :-) ) Sandoval and CC can't be matched. Both are and were travesties as Sox.

Not sure Hanley is in the same boat: he had a decent year last year. What I don't understand is why they DH'd him, as he demonstrated pretty clearly that when he wasn't involved defensively (i.e., stuck in left field), his hitting suffered as well.

I wonder what Marrero and Lin are thinking now.

Probably to keep practicing their defense at other positions. If Lin can keep hitting about .275, he'll have a bench spot since he's more athletic than Holt or Rutledge.

Absolutely right!!! But we are constantly reminded that the Red Sox are reluctant to spend over the luxury tax limit. They must stay within their budget. Not much of a budget if you ask me. Hanley doesn't start producing he will be the next one to go.

Holt may never play in BOS again due to his vertigo. Rutledge is a AAAA guy and easilty replaceable.

They brought in Perralta because you never know if you can catch lightning in a bottle with a guy. Also, they need to field a full roster in Pawtucket and have had a ton of injuries this year.

The Sox spent years nickel and diming already Sox on new contracts and while many worked out in Sox favor after the fact, it certainly goes to show how silly the Lester contract negotiations were. Laughable now.

Biggest takeaway from Tzu-Wei Lin getting No. 5 on the day Pablo got DFA'd: he's here to stay

Sandoval, Crawford....could not handle the money or the weight of wearing a Sox jersey...enough paying for guys who are potential wrecks.

This was true with Crawford; after he left he was okay in LA for a couple years and then injuries cropped up and his skills diminished in a normal pattern relative to his age.

In Sandoval's case, it had nothing to do with the money or wearing the Sox uniform. His skills were gone and it would not have mattered where he landed or for how little money.

http://www.espn.com/blog/boston/red-sox/post/_/id/52913/so-long-panda-ranking-the-lowest-points-in-bostons-pablo-sandoval-era

1. June 18, 2015: Sandoval is benched for one game in Atlanta after getting caught "liking" photos of a woman on Instagram during the previous night's game. Sandoval explains he was using his phone in the bathroom between innings.

2. April 9, 2016: In his only start of the season, Sandoval's belt breaks on a swing and miss. The video instantly goes viral.

3. April 5, 2016: Sandoval begins the season on the bench after getting beaten out for the third-base job by Travis Shaw in spring training. The Red Sox had been frustrated with Sandoval for reporting to spring training out of shape.

4. May 3, 2016: Sandoval undergoes season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

5. June 20, 2017: Sandoval returns to the disabled list with an inner ear infection. He had been batting .212 with a .623 OPS in 32 games.

6. April 23, 2017: Sandoval begins the season healthy after a strong spring training in which he has little competition for the third-base job (Shaw had been traded in the offseason). But Sandoval goes on the disabled list after spraining his right knee while ranging for a hard grounder during a game in Baltimore. He misses a month.

7. Sept. 20, 2015: Sandoval scores the go-ahead run in the eighth inning in Toronto, then is replaced because of dehydration symptoms. He doesn't play again that season, sitting out the final 14 games and not traveling with the team on a season-ending road trip because of pneumonia.

DD just said that Lin has done everything that they have asked for and that he is not sure exactly what his role will be going forward. He also added that Lin can play CF.

Lin was not a camp invitee and that was probably a mistake. Said that he is not sure what Lin did to make this jump in development but that it is real.

Pawtucket must have s***** catering services. Screw them too!

The on-field product isn't always the first priority here. Need to sell panda hats too sometimes. :D

I knew that they had worked Lin out in OF. Good to hear that they have faith he can pinch in when needed. That versatility has been missing since Holt went down.

DD live on FB.

Just said Pablow refused an offer to stay at Pawtucket and play every day.

He has his money. Lol.

Sandoval is such an *******. You would think the guy would demonstrate just a little loyalty to the organization that paid him 100m and accept the assignment and try to turn his career around. Maybe Sandoval needs playing time to make adjustments as a hitter (lay off bad pitches) and AAA would be the place to get this playing time.

He took 100m from the Red Sox, didn't produce at all, and gave the organization the finger as he left town. Scumbag.

He was pretty s***** about SF on his way out of that door too. It's not surprising. The Sox should have known who they were climbing in bed with.

And Hanley's $100 million contract is ridiculously bloated too, bringing the total to almost $300 million. Ben's track record was horrendous. For $300 million, we got 1 good season from Hanley. To quote Joe Castiglone, "What a squander."
