Why Frazier to the Yanks? Headly is only suppose to miss a couple games.

Maybe he can play 1B. Also deny the Red Sox from getting him.

That Shaw deal is really starting to bite us. No one thought he would have these numbers, but I figured him for at least 20 - 25 homers and 70 to 90 RBI's while hitting a solid .275 He could have also DH'd and played first. And on a good year Panda would have given us what. To clear the way for Panda was a real f.up. You can't screw up on an evaluation of a player like that. I don't care if Shaw had a slower second half last year, he's young and we got f...

Maybe they play Frazier at 1b or move Headly to 1b? Don't know, just hope they gave up something good. But knowing Cashman, the Yankees have probably acquired both players and gave up nothing more than a crap prospect like J.Matao.

edit: just looked at C.Headley's stats. He probably goes to the bench--he has been awful this year. Thus, Frazier replaces Headley as the Yankees starting 3b.

Yeah to all of you. I forgot about Greg Bird not coming back. (first base)

Silverman: Source: Red Sox are not close to deal w White Sox for Todd Frazier. And as of tonight, they are not close to deal for another third baseman.

With Hanley playing 1b, perhaps the Red Sox will pursue JD Martinez for DH.

That's OK -- Devers.

(1) acquire JD Martinez

(2) acquire relief pitcher

(3) Devers takes over 3b. Some would say that it does not make sense to trade assets for a 3b when you have a guy like Devers in your system and just about ready to go.

JD has already been traded. Johnson may be pitching his way out of Boston. If we make a trade, I hope its for something good and not just a rental. Keep building and hope we get hot come play off time..

Already traded to the DBacks

Just saw that. Goodbye JD Martinez. Goodbye Frazier. What is Dombrowski doing? Spending too many hours with his hair stylist?

Actually, my first preference is still out there: Y.Alonso. That would allow the Red Sox to improve the offense while keeping Hanley at DH.

Johnson should be an excellent trade chip -- the Sox don't have a rotation spot for him next year AND Johnson is out of options.

No offense...Devers sits in minors......If he can't hit any better than what we go in majors right now, we might as well trade him.

what a bunch of f***ing idiots. if he fails, SO f***ING WHAT? Oh wait, we'll only score a run or two?

I heard that Yankee White Sox deal is done-- includes Blake Rutherford and 3 other prospects

Rutherford is the prize for the White Sox. Cashman gave up a good prospect, never thought I would see the day. He probably tried to sell the White Sox the crappy J.Mateo but the White Sox wouldn't go for it (speculation on my part) and demanded a better prospect, either Frazier or Rutherford. Frazier is closer to the big leagues, but Rutherford might have a higher ceiling. At least the Yankees gave up something pretty valuable in this deal.

No doubt I am old and old fashioned as well, but when I waas brought up, no one would use foul language on communication and if you used it in front of a lady, someone would punch you out. I'm probably not supported in this view here, but would you please tone it down?

Yankees had to give up a pretty good prospect for Frazier/Robertson. If that was cost I'm glad we stayed away. There has to be a cheap option somewhere.. If not, please don't overpay. We do have Devers/Lin as backup if necessary

We need a 1B/DH more since I believe Devers will be up soon.

If we really think our 1Bman and/or DH need to be replaced, why do we still have them batting 4th and 5th?

I'm not against the idea of trading for a big bat 1Bman. I've been calling for Moreland's line-up demotion for weeks.

I do not think demoting or platooning HRam makes too much sense (right now anyways).

Yeah, call up Devers and trade for Alonso, a legitimate middle of the order bat.

(1) Trade B.Johnson and M.Chavis for Y.Alonso

(2) Promote Devers

(3) Promote Brentz, release/trade C.Young

Against RHP:

Betts (RF)

Benintendi (LF)

Pedroia (2B)

Alonso (1b)

Ramirez (DH)

Bogaerts (SS)

Bradley (CF)

Devers (3b)

Well that's Farell. 1B and DH has been weak all year. The 3B solution is in house.

I'm not sure why you are so down on Young. He's not doing that much worse than his norm. He's hitting righties much better than recently, and if he starts hitting lefties like he has for many years, he could be a huge asset.

What are you going to do with Moreland? DL? Trade him? Bench him?

I've seen teams make trades for other positions then demote the current 4 or 5 hitter to the 5 and 6 slot, but not to trade for a replacement of your clean-up hitter all together as the way to boost your offensive productivity.

The idea seems absurd. (Not trading for a 1Bman, but keeping Moreland up 4th while looking for someone to replace him all together.)

I with you on both Young and Hanley. Young is a good defensive outfielder who makes hard contact agaist lefties. Thats all that can be expected for a utility player. Hanley is not performing at a high level but he is still our main power bat and has a huge salary so it makes no sense to move him. I might bring up Devers as a better prosect than Marerro, look for a relief pitcher (Neshek?) and if we can get a good middle of the order bat for a reasonable amount, then do it. With Bogaerts potentially out, I would consider bringing Lin back.

Young gets paid to hit lefties. Before tonight , he had not been hitting lefties. If he doesn't hit lefties, he has no role on this team.

I really don't see the need to get rid of Young. Our OF is good and he barely plays anyway, he wont make or break this team at all. Deven Marrero being our starting 3B is the much bigger issue.

it is precisely why we don't need him. He. Barely plays and his limited role is to hit lefties which he is not doing. Holt can sub out there if someone needs a rest.

Well its not like Holt has hit anyone either...
