Well, apparently the DWAR compilers heard you because today Gardner is ranked higher than Benintendi. No question Gardner runs better routes, etc, but I am not down on Benintendi to the degree you are because of the reasons I gave. At the same age, 23, Gardner was still in the minors and didn't play his first full season with the Yankees until 2010, when he was 27. Ellsbury's first full season with the Sox was 2008 when he was 24 (he turned 25 that year). Benintendi was born in 1994 and has already turned 23 this year.

So, you are absolutely right in slamming the DWAR, but I disagree that Benintendi is as bad as you (and others) say he is.

I never mentioned Gardner or how Beni matches up against any left fielder.

I only made legitimate observations of how he is playing and how I am disappointed that he has not progressed from last year as much as I had expected.

I don't give a single f*** about DWAR. I pointed out at least two weak areas of his play in left. DWAR would not tell me that he has these deficiencies.

I spend my time actually watching each play of each game ( aside from smoke and piss breaks ) instead of scouring data on a Commodore VIC 20 as some seem to do.

i dont think LF defense is an issue on the 2017 Red Sox.

Neither do I.

But the sum of all failures gives us a team that is "Under-performing".

Almost the entire team has been sloppy this season.

I merely pointed out one area of sloppy play that no one else had mentioned.

It always brings a smile to my face when the "advanced" metrics confirm my firmly held opinions based on my "advanced" analytical observations... , especially after they got it wrong the first time. They should just call me first and then find the numbers to let them back into the conclusion. LOL!!;) Edited by a700hitter

Right now the guy who I feel is the biggest dish is Bogey. He is still young but he should be starting to lead this team and I think the pressure is starting to get to him because big Papi isn't there to handle it. Sometimes you have to let things play out and see what happens. If he is our ss of the future, he better start showing it. I think he is, but right now either he is tired or just in a real bad funk.

Farrell should have told Price to sit the F.. down and when the plane landed I would have told that f... if he did his job like Eck does his, you can talk all you want. Farrell has no balls. Whats Price going to do, take his ball and glove and go home. This ******** is like farm league. One other thing, don't ever pull that ******** on a flight ever again. I would have suspended his ass. He went down with a boo boo anyway.

Well, if they hang on and beat Cleveland tonight there are 55 games left. Miss the playoffs, I believe he will be fired. Playoff appearance with another early exit sweep, I just don't know..

Another gaff tonight. Mookie makes a catch in right field and has the chance to double the man returning to first but doesn't because he doesn't remember how many outs. The result is the Guardians score two and threatened for more. These things keep happening to us. I'm sure they happen to other teaams as well, nobodys perfect, but they seem to happen often with the Sox.

Lack of fundamentals, even by our great fielders, is a sign of poor management and preparation.

This along with what I feel is a lack of fire and desire, makes me feel like JF should go before the season ends.

Slasher - good to hear from you - give me some Pom Pom love. I only want to watch our guys when either Sale or the Pom Pom have the ball. It is sad. i need a lighter mood. I am rappelling slowly down the cliff of oblivion dreaming dreams of mindless statistical jibber jabber. help me

sup CP. pomeranz has stepped up BIGLY. he doing his best lackey impersonation to prove me dead wrong. honestly E-rod gets another start under his belt and he will be MONEY. who would have expected what Fister gave us last night? even with JF doing his best to ruin a good thing by leaving him in 8 pitches too long. i really really really LOVE our rotation right now. the bats will get hot for a stretch and very soon. the swings have been better. we are about to go on a positive streak RIGHT NOW.

LETS DO THIS!

it's about that pitching ultimately! Ours could be the best from top to bottom!

Although the modern playoff schedule has less days off than before, there are still more days off than during the season. This shortens the staff to the point where only 3-4 starters are needed, and a team's top 2-3 RP'ers are used at a higher percent than normal.

I like how our top 6-7 pitchers stack up against any AL team:

SP1 Sale (the best ace this year)

SP2 Price (the highest priced #2 in MLB history)

SP3 Pom (steady Drew)

SP4 Porcello (2.79 ERA in his last 4 starts and last year's cy Young winner)

RP1 Kimbrel (MLB's best closer this year)

RP2 A Redd (Could be one of the best set-up men in MLB)

RP3 C Smith if healthy- Joe Kelly if not

The Guardians have a nice top 2 starters:

Kluber 2.90

Carrasco 3.58

but get sketchy after that...

Tomlin 5.38

Bauer 5.25

(Salazar 4.63/Clevinger 3.68)

Their pen is deeper and can allow Tito to yank starters earlier:

Cody Miller 2.74

A Miller 1.52

B Shaw 2.90

N Goody 2.29

Z McAllister 2.11

D Otero 3.57

The Astros are battling more injuries than we are. Their staff is highly questionable:

Keuchel 1.94 (has only 12 starts)

M Fiers 3.71 (leadss the team in IP at 112)

McCullers 3.92 (on the DL)

C Morton 3.77 (LOL!)

Peacock 2.62 (LOL!)

K Giles 3.11

Devenski 2.85

Feliz 5.04, Sipp 6.47 or just added Liriano?

The Yanks are hard to gauge since adding Gray, Garcia, Robertson & Kahnle to the staff, but they look pretty good:

Severino 2.98

Pineda 4.39 (on DL)

Tanaka 5.09

Sabathia 3.66/Montgomery 4.15

Chapman 2.97

Warren 2.06

Betances 2.61

Robertson & Kahnle

It should be an interesting AL playoffs.

Maybe less of a fluke than Big Dick Rick's 2016?

Is Peacock really all that my good this year?

He spent a big chunk of the season in the bullpen lowering his peripherals. In terms rotation due to injuries, he's been good. But I wouldn't get worked up about a starter with 4 quality starts and one game in excess of 6IP in mid -August. Porcello's career year last year crushes that. Especially considering Peacock still doesn't have 90 IP for the season....

I don't know... between this new lineup and the way he's used Reed in the 7th, this John Farrell guy is growing on me. #BigBoyLineup

They had the great 11 game win streak last September too. Of course they went 1-5 over the last two series before the playoffs and then got smoked by the Guardians.

He needs to really get it done this year.

Winning has a way of doing that to those easily influenced be short sample size results. IMO, JF has made several poor choices during this winning stretch, and it doesn't change the fact that we can and often do, win despite JF, not because of him.

No, the players need to "get it done". JF is not going to help at all.

As you know many people said the same thing about Francona.

I'm one of the people who roasted Farrell for starting Fister in that game against the Jays, but Fister pitched well the two times after that, so I have to say I was in the wrong.

He better help. He calls substitutions, sets the lineup and is in charge of the coaching.

Tito did have extreme loyalty, but he had a brain.

He lost the team at the end. I don't blame him for maybe being distracted. I did not call for Tito's removal. I was the last to call for Bobby V's removal, so it's not like I'm the kind of guy who wants to fire every manager.

I wanted JF gone long ago, and this winning stretch does not change a thing. Just because some stupid moves happen to work (in bunches at times) doesn't mean the choices were smart.

Why assume he suddenly will start "helping"?

Because if he can't help this team, managers are useless and A700 is right about just letting fan vote determine all moves.
