Did Holt mishandle the grounder or was it a legit double?

It would be hard to fault Holt on getting to that ball. It was hit hard, and bounced high. I'm sure they ruled it as a hit.

I would not be surprised to see Brock Holt traded, or relesed, before too long. He's nothing like the player he was a year ago.

Losing the Friday game really killed this series. Oh well. Back home to give the Baltimore Shitbags a case of the flu.

Both. A 'googd' 3rd baseman would have made the play.

Again, a batter too late. Farrell needs to learn to read his pitchers better.

I had no issue with Sale facing Castellanos. Today, Sale had struck him out twice and induced a pop up. And he still got a ground ball, just not one hit in a good spot.

If Hembree gives up the same ball, everyone is screaming that Farrell should have left Sale in.

And getting Bogaerts back will help a little, but I'm sure he's done zero baseball related activity since Wednesday. Hanley will not be 100% for a while after he gets back either. Remember, he's got the full blown flu.

The Sox just have to try and tread water until they get everyone back. That very well could take another couple weeks to get to a point where everyone is close to 100%.

I have to ask. Has this happened to any of you?

You walk back into the room where the game is on and glance at the T.V. and see a hefty black lefty up to bat and for split second think Ortiz is up?

It's happened twice to me now. Both times it was actually Pablo....

4th time through the order - need to have a quick trigger finger\

Back home. They need to take advantage of this home stand. Start playing like a team that's suppose to contend for the a.l east title.

Flexicrapola!

If you mean his flexibility (all positions except pitcher and catcher) is crapola, I agree with you.

All in all, a painful game. 3 hits normally does get you much offense, but we got help from a Detroit error.

Someone else said these day games are a pain, and I agree.

First, we need to get some semblance of our team on the field at the same time.

This. I'm pretty certain that does not include Young, Holt, Sandoval and Hernandez in the line-up on a daily basis, especially when sprinkled with some Selsky.

4, 3 of them were by Moreland. Not exactly strung together.

They have none.

What a mess!

You might be able to live with top stats if Brooks Robinson is playing 3rd (yea, I know Brooksie was higher than that offensively)

You might be able to live with the bottom if Miggy Cabrera is playing 3rd.

Dealing with the combination? An adjective escapes me.

All things considering, things aren't too bad. Our offense has been frustrating, but we'll be fine once our team is healthy and we get a consistent line up out there.

I realize the lineup is a shambles, but they CANNOT lose Sale starts. Very frustrating since he's been as good as advertised.

Verlander is pretty good also, tough game to win against him when we are missing so many players.

Even with the patch work line-ups the Sox have not been blown out. They have been in all the games, I believe. They are 3-3.

As long as they do not fall very far behind in the division while the missing pieces trickle back everything will be fine.

As far as losing Sale starts is concerned this is nothing new to baseball. Other teams have big arms too.

156 games to go. It is a marathon.

I pin these losses on two things:

1) They're playing in a freakin' airport! How many balls have the Sox hit that would have been out of or off the wall in most parks?

2) We've had at least two - and usually more - of our regular starters who are vital cogs in our offense out of every game.

Let's not start the hand-wringing. This team is going to be ok. Better than ok, actually.

Nice post Spud. I like the optimism.
