I pin these losses on two things:

1) They're playing in a freakin' airport! How many balls have the Sox hit that would have been out of or off the wall in most parks?

2) We've had at least two - and usually more - of our regular starters who are vital cogs in our offense out of every game.

Let's not start the hand-wringing. This team is going to be ok. Better than ok, actually.

We have had several well hit balls that were caught for outs. There's that randomness thing again. ;)

I read that outside of the first game, we have average 2.6 regulars out of the line up per game.

Hand-wringing is what us older guys do best. If the Sox were 6-0 right now, we'd be saying, "yeah, fine, but watch out for the June swoon."

To be honest, I'm surprised the pitching has been this good, but Pomeranz should take care of that tonight. And I'm chagrinned that the hitting hasn't been better even without HanRam, Bogaerts, et al.

Both times Sale has been a joy to watch and Porcello OK. ERod and Wright also OK. Best of all might be Kimbrel who eschews a routine save and prefers to keep us on the edge to the very end.

Paplebon would always do the same thing, but no one got sand in their underpants over it.

Even with the patch work line-ups the Sox have not been blown out. They have been in all the games, I believe. They are 3-3.

As long as they do not fall very far behind in the division while the missing pieces trickle back everything will be fine.

As far as losing Sale starts is concerned this is nothing new to baseball. Other teams have big arms too.

156 games to go. It is a marathon.

Long season - 159-3 is still a good record.

Sale was outstanding. But again, the 3rd and 4th time through the order penalties are legitimate - once they came up the 4th time, you knew it could be dicey.
