Not it's not, but getting a player who is more than 2X likely to be a good player and 3X more likely to be an elite player is a nice consolation prize.

The drop off from the first round to the rest of the draft is even more staggering. If you get a good everyday player in the first round, and two guys who contribute from the bench and in the pen later in the draft you had a decent draft.

It's like getting comped for a free casino buffet after losing $2,000. That's how good that I feel about the consolation prize.

Andrew Benintendi is a pretty nice buffet.

Sometimes there is a limited amount of fresh shrimp if you get there early, but usually it is crappy banquet food like Trey Ball. I'd rather have my $2,000 and order from a restaurant menu.

And Benintendi was not worth finishing last. The Yankees didn't have to finish last to get Judge.

I get what you're saying, and I agree that finishing last is never good and a high draft pick is a consolation price at best. Again, I get what you're saying.....but it took the Yankees over 20 years to hit on the first round.

But to be fair, they've been worse than average at drafting over the past couple decades. The Sox have had much better success picking in the 20-30 range.

Longhi hit a 3 Run HR in his first at bat for Double AA Pensicola. 3-11, with a HR, Double 6 RBI's in his first 4 games. Didn't know he hit 40 Doubles last year for Salem.

Pensicola is AA?

Would like to see Brentz get one more chance. His power numbers are up - way up. Think he deserves one more shot.

I gave up on him long ago, but he has looked like he deserves another shot.

I don't see it happening here, unless there's an injury to one of our 4 OF'ers.

In the White Trash Department:

Jason Groome's Father was arrested today for possession and intent to distribute heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine. He is also facing a gun charge.

Hahahahahhahahahahahaha!!!1!!1!1

Gawd I do love my country.

It is good to see that the FO did such a thorough background check on this kid.

Let's hope that they can trade him and get a Third baseman.

East-West Double AA All-Stars yesterday, Devers went 1-2, Danny Mars went 3-4. Triple AAA All-stars Rusney went 2-5, Brentz went 0-2.

Just his father.

You seemed to imply the sins of the father are passed to the son by suggesting, even if sarcastically, we trade Groome.

The apple usually doesn't fall far from the tree. Character issues should be taken very seriously when drafting players -- especially in round 1.

And I wasn't being sarcastic. At the first sign of character issues with this kid, I would move him before he has a chance to turn into a bust.

That's not really what you said. You suggested we trade him now- before any signs of character issues.

You should deal him. His father is a weapon and drug trafficker. What makes you think he was raised on the straight and narrow?

Oaky then, Groome and Travis for Judge.

Just imagine what we would hear if Groome was moved for anyone. We traded a teenager for a pretty good starting ml pitcher and people are still pissed about it. I agree with the old apple and the tree for the most part. I feel kind of sorry for my own kids. I think that they need to be very vigilant with a young guy like Groome.

It is beginning to look like moving Devers up is going to happen. The release of Peralta gives him a ticket to AAA. I'm just not sure that that is a far enough move up but it will do for now I guess.

Too much to give up for Judge.

Okay.

How about Rusney, Pablow, and Owens for Judge.

Yankees need pitching, 3rd baseman, and outfield depth.

Perfect swap.

I don't know for sure but the Sox reportedly had a deal or agreement with Paralta that if he was not promoted to the show by a certain date that they would grant him a release.

I am not sure that his departure signals a promotion to AAA but who knows?

A Devers promotion is imminent, I've been saying for a month they are going to promote him right after the all star break.
