This just in: Buck Showalter wants to make sure you know many Orioles are also playing with ear infections, they just don't whine about it like the Red Sox do.

Best post of 2017, so far.

DL for "the flu." That's a phantom DL stint if I've ever seen one.

First off, I'm surprised that they can get away with this.

Secondly, they should just go ahead and DFA Pablo already. Give him that professional courtesy. They are making him look really bad, which I know no one cares about besides me, but they are also making themselves look bad.

Hmm. I am not on the DFA Pablow bandwagon but I certainly agree with this.

How many times can they go to this "well" anyways?

1) I despised the Pablo signing, so I'm no Pablo fan.

2) I've been supporting the idea that we should hold off cutting ties with the 30 year old who worked hard to get into some semblance of shape.

3) I'm done now.

4) Cut the ties. Just rip the band aid off.

Not to pile on but today I read that Paplow has missed about 240 of the 390 or so games the Sox have played while he is on the roster.

Sound investment.

Just a bad signing. The Red Sox have enough money that they can handle it. Move on and be done with it. I expect he'll be released shortly.

hopefully, his ear infection will clear up so that he can hear it when they tell him to pack up his crap and hit the road.

To me, Hanley looks to be hurt. I hope the Sox hang on to Travis. Let him play 1B and give Moreland some rest at DH. I like that combo.

3B has been a mess since 2011. When is enough enough?

2011: .812 (Youkilis, Lowrie)

2012: .703 (Middy, Ciricao, Youk, Punto)

2013: .683 (Middy, Iggy, Holt, Snyder)

2014: .580 (Middy, Bogey, Holt)

2015: .693 (Sandy, Holt)

2016: .686 (Shaw, Hill, Rutledge, Holt)

2017: .565 (Pablo, Marrero, Rutledge, Hernandez)

2012-2017 Defense

-5.8 UZR/150 (22 out of 30)

- 7 DRS (28 out of 30 and just 1 DRS from being tied for last)

Sox on pace now to win 91 games, not so great. But injuries and loss of Ortiz explain some of that. And how bad can 2 d best record in AL be?

ERod last start June 1. When does he return? Didn't FO say 3-4 weeks to rest knee? And wasn't knee injury Farrell's fault for insisting ERod warm up before his start?

I did not like the signing either, but that's beside the point.

As I just posted in another thread, I'm at the point where I'm done also, but not because I'm fed up with Pablo, and not because I don't think Pablo deserved to get regular playing time, but because I'm sick of how the team is handling the Pablo situation.

The bogus DL stint is the last straw. Just DFA the guy, and let him move on.

We won 93 games last year with Papi.

I guess we're showing there are "other ways" to win games.

Yup, 8 runs scored with no HRs is definitely different.

And the best part is, we're doing it with no fire!

(Sorry.)

Like trading for one of the best pitchers in the game today? That'll do it.

Yup!

A great trade!

I'd do that type of trade every chance I got.

Day off.

7 home games:

3 vs LAA .500

4 vs MN .515

Then, 10 on the road:

3 @ TOR .486

3 @ TEX .500

4 @ TBR .514

Then home for 4 vs the Yanks (.559) and 4 vs TOR (.486).

Maybe now is the time to put together a nice winning stretch.

We can't be literally throwing away winnable games. In late September we may need a game here or there to qualify. Our staff tends to nibble at the corners too often and rack up a lot of pitches. Last night wasn't an example of that but instead outright willdness and it cost us a game. Anyone can have an off day. Lets hope it was only that and we can return to the solid relief we had been getting.

Trade high end prospects for Sales not for Pomeranzes.

I may not be posting much over the next week. I won't see any games until I get back home for recordings.

I'm on my way to Mexico City by car.

I lived in Mexico City for over 4 years. That's where I met my wife.
