This kid has been just incredible. The progression from last year to this one is stunning. Last year he took fastballs then couldn't lay off sliders off the plate. Now, he looks like a ten year vet. He's got the goods to hit 40 homers and reach base 40% of the time

As I predicted, Jacko. And don't be expecting any more complete games out of Tanaka. I expect him to get lit up too.
2 HRs and 4 Runs allowed. He and Severino caught the Red Sox lineup at a time when it was helpless. They were not as masterful as you thought.

Nice try a700. We were up 7-0 in the 5th and he essentially just started pitching with a lead.
Oh so he just started pitching BP because the team had the lead? Nice try.

It's called pitching with a lead. Otherwise known as no more nibbling, so while it isn't BP, it's certainly more akin to allowing hits
And just as it wasn't the real Tanaka who was pitching with a lead and challenging hitter, it was not the real Tanaka who was mowing down the helpless Red Sox lineup that was mired in a horrific slump.

Aaron Freakin' Judge, man. He'll cool down, like Sanchez, but still, in 2018/19/20, the Yanks are going to be filthy.

They current have the 3rd highest winning % in all of baseball.

Tanaka was up 1 or 2 runs vs the Sox. He was up 7 vs the Jays
My point is that Tanaka and Severino caught us when we were cold. Severino is not very good and Tanaka is very good, but he is not Pedro masterful like he was that night. Your team is on a good run, but they are not that good. The danger is that they will start to believe in themselves and a winning attitude can't be underestimated. Talent-wise-- they are a 4th place team.

I think Severino will surprise you. And yeah, I think they're a little early. I don't think the team ends up a first place team, yet they have the talent next year or later to be a perennial winner.

The longer they play exciting come from behind ball the more they will believe in themselves. It happened in 2013 for the Red Sox. They were good, but on paper that team should not have gone wire to wire.

2013 sox team was heavily veteran driven. This team has essentially three rookies in the starting lineup and two very young pitchers in the rotation. With young players, you don't know whether they'll hit ceiling early or are ramping up. I know where most of the vets will end up as the season ends for the most part with some standard deviations for over or underperformance. I literally have no idea how Bird, Sanchez and Judge will perform over a full year. I have no idea how Sevy and Montgomery will pitch over a full year. It's really fun right now as we are winning. I imagine it will get frustrating at points this year when we arent

Yeah, I love CC but I think even with that huge salary he could become an ace lefty out of the bullpen. I don't think Jordan Montogmery will be a long term piece, but I do like what I've seen out of him.

I'm going to call it now though, Yu Darvish to the Dodgers in July. I think the Red Sox make a good trade too. As for the Yankees, I'm honestly not sure what Cashman will do. Sanchez coming back tonight, but Romine has been playing so well it won't boost us that much. Bird coming back healthy and getting his confidence up in the minors could really help us at the end of May and into June if he gets hot. I really do like this team though. Hope Tyler Austin can come back in June.

This team finds a lot of interesting ways to win. It's pretty exciting but I don't think they can count on crazy comebacks all season long. I'd like to see Sanchez start mashing soon, that would be a huge boost to a lineup that's already pretty potent.

We may not end up as AL East champs. We may not end up in the playoffs. But we sure as s*** are playing a fun brand of baseball. Gardy's heroics overshadowed another game where we had multiple scoring opportunities and couldn't even fly out to the outfield to get runs home. But Pineda was excellent, our pen held us in there and eventually we broke through

You're obviously winning the World Series this year. I think I speak for most here when I say WHAT THE f***.

Over the winter at NYYfans, I was one of maybe two posters who had faith in Hicks and Romine. I never thought Hicks would be this good nor do I think he'll keep this up. I think Hicks is an excellent 4th OF and a pretty darn good OF. Romine is a good back up too. I really love this team. I tihn Judge cools off, but Sanchez steps up. Headley has cooled off, Gardner has turned it on. Really hoping Bird comes back strong too.

Hicks is having a career resurgence

Need to find a way to get him in the lineup everyday. At least until he cools off. Kinda tough with both Gardner & Ellsbury playing well though. At least Ellsbury's latest injury is giving him some consistent playing time.
