This team has the mark of a bad team right now, eerily similar to the 2015 edition of the Red Sox: Don't pitch when they hit, don't hit on the rare occasion they pitch.

Yep.

Two very different assessments from the Pitcher ( Price ) "I had nothing with my best three pitches. This is the worst I have been this season." Farrell "He clearly had his best stuff this season including the shape of his pitches". Or something close to that.

To me I see a pitcher and a manager that are not on the same page. How do you correct problems when there is not common recognition of that problem?

Maybe Farrell concussed his two brain cells last night.

And a former pitching coach no less. Stuff like this really does make you wonder if the guy is a buffoon.

As others have said, it was a strange outing by Price. He got hit pretty hard when balls were put in play. OTOH, he had 10 Ks. Farrell's statement is still over the top, but I'm thinking Price is also being overly critical of himself.

One thing you have to give Price credit for is that he owns up to his poor outings. No excuses from him.

It seems to be the pattern this year. Lots of K's, lots of hits.

Farrell did mention something yesterday that is worth some thought. He said that perhaps Price is focusing too much on striking batters out rather than on just getting outs. Maybe Price is getting too much of the plate too often because he's trying strike batters out, rather than just trying to make quality pitches?

Price was leaving way to many pitches upstairs and missing his spots. Remy and OB were harping on this the entire game. Also, almost all of Price's ks came against the bottom of the order for what that is worth.

I keep saying that Price will not be a problem. However, if we continue to see a steady diet of this s*** things could get really ugly.

I asked the board prior to ST if Price were to get off to a slow start or otherwise fall short of expectations, would he be granted any slack by the fans and media. Well he has received some slack but now at the midpoint of the season, things are closing in on him around here. All the radio and TV shows are harping on his failures.

I hope that he gets back solidly on track very soon.

With 40% of the rotation already steaming dog s***. we need all three at the top to win far more than not.

Maybe, but buffoon doesn't really describe Price if David really thought he had less stuff yesterday than he did against the Rangers last Friday. That just sounds like a guy making a stock quote for the reporters.

I think he just sucks at PR.

I don't know about that. His catcher is Puerto Rican. :P

Oye. I always saw his ability to handle the press as one of his strengths. Take that off the positive column and Farrell is not much of a manager in this market.

He's talking about Farrell, not Price.

No kidding?

Buffoon was used to describe Farrell and his remarks after the game about Price's stuff (among other things).

Now read carefully. If Price really thought that his stuff yesterday was worse than it was against the Rangers last Friday, then buffoon is not nearly an apt enough description of the person making THAT statement.

Both remarks were well off base.

They're just platitudes. It's the typical manager "defending his pitcher" and pitcher "being overly hard on himself" BS.

Now read carefully: None of the s*** they say to the media actually means or is worth anything.

The only thing missing to complete the trifecta of useless commentary was the typical "We just need to take one day at a time and one game at a time."

Price could be wrong or Farrell could be wrong. The total disconnect in their statements tends to suggest nobody knows what the hell is going on, which, along with things like the stupid base running blunders, adds an element of buffoonery to the team's struggles.

the manager (a former pitching coach) and the team "Ace" should always....ALWAYS...be on the same page. regardless of whether or not they are spewing typical baseball quotes. the quotes should at the very least.....match.

Which is why post game press conferences are just a waste of time.

True, but it became good sport to watch Buch try to rationalize his suck. "I felt good. I had all my pitches working for me today. It's just one of those deals where they put a good swing on me."

Yeah, that is quality entertainment.
