So, just out of curiosity, since I was determined to start this Gamethread on my birthday, I looked up May 9th on BaseballReference.com, going back to my first year of watching it in 2002.

2002: Sox beat the A's 5-1

2003: Sox lose to the Twins 5-0

2004: Sox lose to the Royals 8-4

2005: Sox beat the A's 13-5

2006: Sox beat the Yankees 14-3

2007: Sox beat the Blue Jays 9-3

2008: Sox lose to the Twins 7-6

2009: Sox lose to the Rays 14-5

2010: Sox beat the Yankees 9-3

2011: Sox beat the Twins 2-1

2012: Sox lose to the Royals 4-3

2013: Sox lose to the Twins 5-3

2014: Sox lose to the Rangers 8-0

2015: Sox lose to the Jays 7-1

A lot of interesting stuff here, to me anyways. In the last 14 seasons they've beaten the A's twice already. They've beaten the Yankees twice. They've played the Twins four times on my birthday, way more than any other team, and only beaten them once. They're only 6-8 in those 14 seasons. And most interestingly to me, in 14 consecutive seasons my birthday has not fallen on an off day.

Of course I want the Sox to win, but for now it's enough there is going to be a Monday night game at Fenway with the possibility if not probability that Buchholz will have a quality start.

Beginning to look as though JBJ's move to the 8th spots is semi-permanent. Until he moves up again.

I would make a quick to the mound and tell Mr. Buchholz that you are going 6 innings tonight. That can be 18 pitches or 218, up to you.

I like this idea.

Okay. Normally I wait until between inning to go outside and smoke.

f*** that. I've seen this act before.

Hope the 7 run rule is in effect.

Mister Consistency off to another stellar start.

1-0 A's with one out.

No brainer my ass.

Definitely a no brainer, regardless of how he ends up pitching this season.
