As good as he is, i do not have a good feeling about Chris Sale. If you are going to give up the best that you have potentially, you better be damned sure that you are getting not just a quality pitcher but I quality person as well. I like everything about David Price - I don't feel the same way about Sale. I would never give up what they are going to want for him. We aren't all that bad without him.

Have you seen how our 30 million dollars "ace" looks tonight against the twinkies?

I'd want to keep all the prospects right now.....we still have to figure out if Kelly can become a viable option out of the pen.

There's no urgency right now, no?

It would have to be the right deal. I also don't want to see all our top prospects go. If Price and ERod can step it up, non issue. Maybe one more RP.

Word is Sale was pissed about the throw-back jersey for tonight's game.

I'll still overpay for this guy--even by alot.

This from MLBTR:

SATURDAY, 7:52pm: The Rangers are currently unwilling to trade Mazara for Sale, but they’re open to dealing Gallo, Profar and some of their pitching prospects, per Sullivan.

3:06pm: Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara is on Chicago’s wish list if it swings a deal with Texas involving Sale, reports Sullivan (Twitter link).

Yup - not very happy about it but it doesn't change how I feel about Sale.

I'm Jack Flap, and I approve this message.

The fun is over...

"SATURDAY,9:26pm: The White Sox aren’t motivated to trade either Sale or Quintana, multiple major league sources told Rob Bradford of WEEI.com. "

The fantasy trade scenarios are covert whining about the Kimbrel/Pomeranz trade.

Any speculation about a trade involving Chris Sale is going to sound fantastical almost by definition... but it's in the news, so people will speculate.

But if you mean the talk about what we woulda/coulda/shoulda done with Espinoza, Margot, etc., then I agree...that ship has sailed (no pun intended).

With Sale becoming available, it certainly makes me ask the question: Would a package of Espinoza/Erod/Margot/Guerra/Swihart have gotten it done?

It seems like all this team's assets went for small fish, when we all wanted tuna.

"Padres outfield prospect Manuel Margot was pulled from a game at Triple-A El Paso in the fourth inning Saturday.

Margot was spotted in the dugout and he isn't believed to be injured. The speculation is that he could be headed to the Padres to replace Melvin Upton, who appears likely to be traded at any moment. Margot is a top-50 prospect who's batting .306/.356/.434 with four homers and 24 steals for El Paso. He's worth a speculative add in mixed leagues."

Since the 21-2 beating by the Angels, the Sox have gone 11-4. Three out of the four losses have come in games started by Price.

Word is the Chicago wants five top prospects. I don't think I'm willing to do that, especially in light of this latest incident. The dude pouted and cut up the team's uniforms because he didn't want to wear them. Is that really the type of player that we want to gut our farm for?

Good question. Baseball players are funny like that though. Were they too tight, too loose, was it superstition, or just a bad attitude? More importantly, could Sale help me w/ some of my old clothes? :)

Further evidence that these big FA signings rarely work out, and the whole theory that you get the value on the front end of these long term deals is often fantasy.

LOL Yeah, I need Sale to come over and clean out my closet too.

I can understand him not wanting to wear the throwbacks. I can't understand him cutting up the entire team's uniforms when his request was denied. That's very childish, to say the least.

This incident leads me to wonder if Sale is somewhat trying to force his way out of Chicago.

I agree. I have never been a fan of big contracts.

You can make the same argument about a blockbuster trade for a guy like Sale. That could blow up in your face the same way. The only difference is that your losses are in talent, not dollars.

Further evidence of, if you care less about K's & more about just plain results, Quintana might be the safer get. Sale reminds me of a less mature Curt Schilling, if that's even possible. Even w/ that whole Adam LaRoche thing this past Spring. He runs his mouth off without knowing exactly how s*** went down. Real loose trigger finger when something doesn't go his way & takes things way too personal. Would I still love for him to switch Sox, yes ... But that's based on his talent & nothing else.

The more i hear about Sale the less I want him. This is one of the hardest towns in baseball to successfully pitch in as it is, when adding a massive cost in farm talent into the equation along with such an apparently unstable personality, the whole concept of the trade seems more likeky than not to explode right in our faces.

We already have one ''ace'' who we sank a lot of resources into and is not living up to the billing, and a ton of dead money from past misadventuresnas well. I don't want to take another big risk until I'm sure we can deal with the fallout if it utterly fails
