Kimbrels first real test coming up

Striking out the side against the heart of the Jays order wasn't a test?

I agree, but there's still a kind of inbred sentiment among a lot of Sox fans that you have to prove yourself against the EE, even when they're sucking a bit.

If that kid can get some fastball command, he could be really good. That CB/changeup combo is so good.

Yes, some pitchers take time to develop. Owens is built like a stork. It's harder for him to have a consistent delivery. If he figures it out, he could be a top of the rotation guy. "Could be."

I also don't believe the rivalry is a big deal anymore.

Remy and DOB were talking about how Betances starts over 70% of his AB's with breaking balls, and Ortiz was sitting on that one.

This is one of the things that makes Ortiz so seemingly "clutch". He's a good hitter because he's a smart hitter.

Although if you become too predictable as a pitcher (or a hitter), you're likely going to pay the price.

This is true. You have to be able to prove yourself against the Yanks.

Barnes, Koji, and Kimbrel all did a great job in sealing the victory.

That was an extremely awesome win in every way imaginable.

Good for the soul.

In my experience, Yankee fans are much better losers than they are winners. The opposite can be said of Red Sox fans who are good winners and lousy losers. The world is a peaceful place only when the Red Sox are winning and the Yankees losing.

With an 89 mph fastball? He ain't gonna become Maddux.

Yankee TV announcers are talking about Porcello's K rate going up. Singleton asked why that would be for a guy who is known as a sinkerball pitcher. Cone answered that he is getting more strikeouts with his change up. I don't know if that is accurate.

I'll look into it and get back to you. At first glance however, his changeup pitch value is through the roof.

Maybe Porcello can re-teach Buchholz how to throw the change up. It used to be Buch's out pitch.
