Your post literally says "It's not as demanding impact wise as the other 3", which is debatable at best anyways considering length of season, and the wear-and-tear of certain positions.

Maybe I should have been a bit more clear there. I mean impact wise in terms of injuries. What the rest of my post was saying is that they type of injuries and issues are very different in baseball to Hockey and Football. Baseball tends to be more wear and tear (although there are outliers of course) and the other sports tend to have injuries caused by the high impact side of the respective sports. As I say, it's impossible to compare really.

And I'll fight you. I once threw a 43mph fastball so I obviously have a hell of a punch.

My change up is rubbish though.

I'll take on any and all male comers under the age of 65, because anything above it would be considered a hate crime. So it's you and MVP. Let's get it on!

I don't even know how to respond to this without making it worse.

This is all sorts of wrong. I'm on bug duty and booger wiping duty, thank you very much!

Don't lie to me. You're on diaper change/booger wipe duty. Bug duty falls to the wife, since you're scared of any and all bugs.

I stared down a lion* just less than a month ago. Fearless I am. f*** messing around with spiders though. That is CLEARLY a woman's job. Always has been. I'm suspicious of men who talk of handling spiders. Liars is what they are. Damned liars.

I do almost everything in the house, except for laundry and cleaning the floors. Bugs don't bother me. I've seen scarier diapers in my house than bugs.

Handling? God, no!

Squishing? Sure!

Spiders and snakes are not pets... They'll kill you when your back is turned. You need to strike first.

In other words, you are indeed your wife's bitch.

As Hitch says, I trust no man who *says* he kills the spider. You, sir, are a liar.

Swihart's injury wasn't wear and tear, it was a collision with a wall.

Holt has a concussion.

Sam Travis is now out for the year after tearing his ACL making a tag on a rundown play.

All young guys.

There are a lot of 'freakish' injuries in baseball. That's the whole point. There are so many freakish injuries that it's reasonable to conclude that freakish injuries are an integral part of the game.

I'll take a snake any day over a spider. I'm constantly saving snakes from my cat.

And I'll take both over a diaper full of baby crap!

Snakes, they hear your footprints they scuttle off out there quick as their little legs will take them. Spiders, they see you, "Yeah what ya gonna do f*** head? That's right you keep walking back out the bathroom. It's my shower now."

That's why I said there are outliers. They happen of course. Jesus, you can do your ACL playing a round of golf. Which is basically a brisk walk for angry people.

I'm not trying to play baseball down, in fact quite the opposite, but I would argue that it's major issues are with wear and tear with some impact injuries in there, which is reversed for other two sports mentioned.

As I keep saying though, they are incomparable. All the sports are very tough on the body for differing reasons(in the main).

I don't mind a little role reversal every now and then.

I've got about 12 months to go before I can stop changing diapers. The worst part is the first 6 months when the s*** is soupy and tends to leak out of the diaper. My 18 month old is fine except for when she decides she can't stop kicking while getting changed.

Part of that is because baseball is a very 0-100 sport. I mean, freak accidents can happen in any sport, or even in our everyday lifes. You literally go from standing still to an all out sprint in the game, couple that with the risk of running into walls and other people and it's easy to see how easy freakish accidents can occur.

Going from doing nothing, to giving something your maximum effort probably puts you more at risk of an acute injury than almost any other physical type of activity. And when you also consider everything inbetween including guys playing through injuries and it's easy to see how baseball can add a lot of wear and tear to an individual.

Because of so many maximum effort movements, imo.

Agreed. One time, I was holding my son who had just crapped his diaper when we landed at LAX and it was starting to leak out. As we were getting off the plane, Gov Patrick told us what a great job we did with our son. I stopped to say thank you and then bolted for the nearest men's bathroom. Luckily, there was no changing table so I just put him up next to the sinks, threw a changing mat down and grabbed about 20 wipes and a change of baby clothes.

At least I didn't get s*** on my collar that time!

I sure traveled all over the country and played 140 games while dealing with nagging injuries during my years as a 9-5 employee! Whew! That was hardcore!

Moon had his mea cuplpa on the statement and said that he meant the 4 major sports. so answer the question - rank the 4 major sports in order of most physically demanding to least physically demanding....

Yeah, I thought MLB might be ahead of the NBA in injuries.

Pro football is a game that probably shouldn't even be played. It's basically designed to shred the human body.

Now you answer my question: Is it realistic to say that being a DH for an MLB team is not a demanding job both physically and mentally?

no one said based on injuries. nba has a 12 man roster. to think the average nba player isnt more physically fit than the average MLB player is naive.

i never denied that so why do i need to state it?

you think an MLB player is more physically demanding than NBA player you havent a clue.

to play any sport, hobby, game at a professional level is both physically and mentally taxing.

to think baseball isnt the least "physical" sport of the major 4 is plain wrong.
