Took 3 of 4, but Eovaldi is back in a bad streak. The guy is the streakiest pitcher on this team. He'll go 15 starts looking like an ace then have 5 in a row where he could get beaten by the Bad News Bears. Once again, this team is not ready for prime time. I want to SELL at the deadline, f*** it, sell NOW.

I'd be pissed if I was Girardi. The 9th started in a downpour. There was a puddle in the landing spot for the pitcher. Chapman and his 100 mph heat couldn't grip the ball. Instead of calling for the delay prior to the inning, the umps wait until Chap walks a batter and goes 3-1 on another. That neutralizes Chap. After the delay, Kirby AAAA goes into a losing situation and loses the game.

I'm not gonna lie, I was very happy to wake up and see that the Yankees lost that game. That said, I would have to agree that the decision/timing of the rain delay was very poor and unfair to both teams.

My understanding is that Kirby, on 3 different occasions that inning, had the batter down 2 strikes, then proceeded to hit the batter.

TBSB,

Yankees are still closer to last place than first place and below .500.

Must be why you've doubled your trolling efforts!

Eovaldi and his 100mph fastball couldn't miss bats. He's got the stuff to be a staff ace and he doesn't walk hitters, but he must have the straightest fastball of all time. Even at 101mph, guys are barreling it at an alarming rate

I am literally hoping for a free fall. I want us to be 10 games under before the deadline and I want this team to sell. We need the fresh blood to start getting reps

It'll be very interesting to see how Cashman handles this trade deadline.

I just want the Yankees to go away. They somehow manage to keep 'hanging around'. Must be that 'luck' factor I keep talking about.

Texas and Washington in on Chapman. This is very, very good. I get that we're 3-2 out of the break, but our schedule is terrible and we're still 5 games out of a playoff spot.

From Texas, I'd be looking at Profar or Gallo and from Washington, I'd be looking at Turner.

5 games out on July 19 isn't much.

Five games can be made up in a strong, two week stretch. I understand that the task becomes more difficult when there are 5 teams to jump over, but I still wouldn't count the Yankees out, much to my dismay.

The Yankees could be both sellers and buyers, or could do a partial sell, and still remain competitive enough this year.

The best case scenario, as Jack mentioned, would be for the Yankees to play well enough until the end of the month to keep them from selling, then fall off the face of the earth in August.

I am not happy that the Yankees have won the first two games from the Os.

i want them to sell and cash on their chips on this season. If they pick up a starter and their rotation starts doing a better job, they have a damn scary bullpen. They are within striking distance. We have not put them away yet. I don't declare them dead until they have stopped breathing and then are shot twice in the head.

a700, they have a dead offense.
they could pick up a bat at the TD. I hope that you are right. I want them selling and surrendering in the second half. That would never happen with the Boss, but his sons don't have the same fire in the belly -- which is also a problem for your team.

This confirms that you are crazy.

why would i want them to be sellers and build back up? let them trade whatever young talent they have for aging bloated contracts.

They are 5 games out. If they get hot, they could be a problem for us with their bullpen. Let them rebuild and wallow at or below .500 for 3 to5 years. Rebuilding doesn't guarantee future success, but it does guarantee short term surrender, and I love when they are dead and buried.

Amen Brother.

However, I'd love to see the Yankees trade Miller to the Sox.

It won't happen. But I like the idea.

We have one reliable starter, a suspect offense and a lights out bullpen that doesn't get enough leads to hold. It looks like we're looking at moving Chapman for Joe Ross. The Nats say they aren't moving Ross for a "rental" but they're a win now team that needs a lights out reliever. We've got Chicago, Cleveland and SF in the mix. That'd be the exact kind of move I'd love. Rebuilding on the fly with a young starter who is actually good.

Chad Green might end up in the mix in the pen for the rest of the year. He's been a dominant starter in the minors, but he just threw an inning where he's topping out at 99 and his slider is sick

Tex retiring is expected, albeit sad for me. When Tex was a Jr in college, I was a Sophomore. I was playing college ball and I remember following him after he won the golden spikes award in 2000. Interestingly, we went to the D2 CWS in Alabama in 2001 and had to go through Atlanta, and we took a bus ride from Atlanta to Alabama. We stopped at Georgia Tech and toured their facilities. It was pretty cool seeing the hype for the baseball team. Former guys like Nomar and Payton and then the large poster of Tex. He was a 3b, but destined to be a 1b in the pros and I was a 1b in college, so I was rooting for him. When he signed with the Yankees, I was ecstatic as he was one of my favorite players and one of my contemporaries. Now he is retiring and its just a reminder of how old I am, how long ago that time was. Good luck Tex.
