I'm not being personally insulting. My post was a satirical comment on the absurdity of satirical comments on a baseball forum.
That is so stupid that it is funny, but then again you are very funny. ;)

Can somebody explain something to me; Buch has got a team option for $13.5m next year. Does that go to the new club if we trade him? Or does it die with the trade?

It goes to the club we trade him to.

Here's how crazy the money is: Brett Anderson and Colby Rasmus each received Qualifying Offers of 15.8 million.

Yes, but the Dodgers and the Astros offered them the qualifying offer. Those qualifying offers are hurting lower tier FA who do not accept them to. MLB has to take a look at this.

I really think it's because the players union has been encouraging players not to accept the QO, and to look for multi-year deals instead. The owners, knowing this, are more apt to give a QO to a lower tier FA. If the owners think the player will decline, it's to their advantage to give an offer, so they can get the draft pick.

Some of the borderline or lower tier players need to start accepting the QO and make the owners pay $15 mil to a player who might not be worth it. That will make owners more reluctant to hand out those QOs, which I think would benefit the players in the long run.

The QO's are a major boon for team owners. Usually a QO is for a player you would actually like to retain. There is a premium to be paid for guys coming back on 1 yr deals and that premium would be potentially double the amount of money they would otherwise make on the open market on an annual basis. Take Rasmus. The guy should probably take the QO. He is probably looking at $8-9mil AAV on the open market. But he will probably decline and end up in limbo.

I think I heard that no player has ever accepted a qualifying offer.

This is correct. Most players are looking for multi-year contracts instead of a one year deal, even if it means less money per year. Some players, like Stephen Drew, are going to end up getting burned by having that draft pick attached to them.

I think that if the Sox had made Salty a QO (and Salty actually expected it at the time) he would have jumped at it and would have become the first player to have broken ranks with the PA and signed the QO. As I recall baseball media was split about 50-50 on the subject. So it would not have been a total surprise if the Sox had offered it. Myself I would have been pretty surprised if it was offered and then refused by Salty.

I don't think the Sox were interested in bringing Salty back, even on a one year deal. IMO, that's why he was not given the QO, because they felt there was too big of a chance Salty would accept it.

I did not want Salty back either. I was just commenting on the total rejection to this point of the QO by players. There was a chance that the Sox would offer one to Salty and I do think Salty would have been the first player to have taken it if offered.

Well, Rasmus is taking my advice and accepting the QO

Boy did his value go through the roof. Last off season he could hardly get anyone interested in him.

It's good to see some players finally accepting the QO. Last I heard, Rasmus, Wieters, and Anderson have accepted. I think this will make the teams think a little longer before handing out a QO to some of their free agents.

There is nothing wrong with the QO as a device and teams should not be reluctant to use it for the right player. Not everybody is a fit. Neither is it a bad thing for the teams in all cases.

The agents are the guys that don't like them lead by our favorite agent target for criticism, Boras. He wants everybody to go to full FA and frankly he does not care whether it is in the best interests of the player he represents or not. He wants to generate the most revenue he can out of each player he represents. He wants to take a shot at the brass ring for every one of them and he can afford to have some failures. But those players that fail to come up aces may not have been able to afford it.
