All this talk about True Detective being not is good this year is just claptrap.

Stay tuned for more screaming hot Dan Duquette takes coming right up!

The only point of paying attention anymore is to help fight insomnia.

I bet True Detective is good. But watching the Sox is like seeing a huge steaming pile of crap shot out of a catapult into orbit...... . . you just can't beat it......

i agree. We are not out of this if the FO does something to improve this roster.

Even if they don't do anything, we're not out of it. I usually don't look at standings until the ASG, but we're 6.5 games out of a playoff spot. That's not too shabby considering how bad we've looked at times.

As currently constituted this team is just not good enough to compete imo.

Regardless of where this leads - they are playing better ... and the kids are settling in.

There is no way to improve the pitching enough during the season to cover for the everyday lineup not doing its job. For any other changes to be justifiable, the guys in the clubhouse need to play to their abilities.

The everyday lineup has been doing its job for the last month and they will hit even better the rest of the way. The problem will be a lack of any consistent pitching after good Buch and ER. The big defect in this team is the pitching and that will not fix itself. If they don't start fixing it now, they will have to address it in the offseason, good Buch gets to walk in the offseason toile it even more challenging.

With four other teams who have a better record over the past 3 months, also with room to improve. How likely is it that all four of those teams are going to simultaneously flounder?

It's time to start printing the "Maybe Next Year" t-shirts.

it is an uphill battle, but the pitching needs an overhaul anyway. It will not fix itself in the offseason. The situation will get worse if Buch walks. I don't see any reason to wait to rebuild the pitching. If we do it now, it might help salvage 2014. If it is too late for that, we would get a start on 2016.

Buchh is under control for the next two years at the bargain price of 13 mil a season. He might be able to fetch something good in a trade, but giving away pitching right now doesn't seem like the thing to do for this year or next.

Adding a number one on the staff would make this a playoff contention team. Maybe not this year, but next.

Of course - the challenge for the team is to get to a position in the next month where the FO can justify the price.

It's probably worth hanging onto Buchholz, to see if he can stay healthy for the entire season.

If he can, he's worth the 13 mil extension.

Buchholz, E-Rod, Miley make up a surprisingly good core. This team just can't afford to keep putting Kelly/Masterson out there -- Johnson/Wright are significantly better options.

I'd also like to see Porcello get a phantom DL trip to work on his mechanics -- something is wrong there, and I wouldn't be surprised if it is something the team can fix in-season.

You can post this as many times as you want, but that's not going to make it true. The fact of the matter is, there are 14 games that we lost in which our pitchers gave up 4 runs or fewer. Our pitchers kept us in those games, and our offense didn't come through like they were supposed to, the premise on which this team was built.

If we won even HALF of those games, our record would 42-36, mere percentage points out of first.

There are 8 games that we lost in which our pitchers gave up 3 runs or fewer. Winning HALF of those would put us at .500, 3 games back.

Let's look at it another way.

In April, we scored 5.14 runs/game and allowed 5.41 runs/game. This was our worst pitching month, yet our winning % of .545 was the best because our offense scored runs.

In May, we scored 2.83 runs/game and allowed 4.28 runs/game. This was our best pitching month, yet our winning % of .345 was the worst because our offense didn't score runs.

In June, we scored 4.51 runs/game and allowed 4.33 runs/game. Our winning % for the month is .481. Our offense has been better this month, but they have not scored as many runs per game as they did in April.

I already posted the Rangers numbers from May, when they had a worse ERA than us, but they had a .633 win % that month because they scored 5.27 runs/game.

In June, their pitchers are giving up one fewer run/game than they did in May, yet they only played .500 ball that month because their offense only scored 3.88 runs/game.

Bottom line: If the offense were doing its job, this team would likely be winning the division, despite the pitching being one of the worst in baseball.

Sorry for the long winded post. LOL

Go Sox!!!

No need to apologize.

It's interesting info.

It'll fall on some deaf ears, because it's not what they've been whining about daily, for four months.

But, that's not your problem.

Sox also won 12 games when scoring 4 or less runs. Therefore, they are 12-14 when the pitching allows 4 runs or less. That's a .460 winning percentage, which is about the same as their current .450 winning percentage.

But really, who gives a s***. I'm far more concerned with Remy's pronunciation at the moment.

De Aza ans Rodriguez are the only players worth watching.
