So the Red Sox have been very active this hot stove. In addition to Panda and Hanley Ramirez, the Sox still needed more pieces.

They just added 3 starting pitchers. Granted none of them look Ace quality, but they could be solid rotation pieces.

How do you feel about what the Red Sox have done so far? I feel like they have opened the purse strings and are making a bid to be truly competitive for the upcoming 2015 season.

They still need an Ace though. Will they make a move for Cole Hamels or will they back up the brinks truck for Scherzer? What would you like to see happen next?

Somehow, the Red Sox have spent 200 million on hitting, and only 20 million on pitching.

There is another piece coming, but this was a very good start.

Looks like they knew they couldn't get top quality so they went for durability?

Well it worked for the Royals last year.

Everyone is in agreement that they still need a #1. Rotation looks solid 2-5. Big hole at the top.

Gotta admit things look better today than they did yesterday. We got Porcello, a solid No. 3 who could morph into an average No. 2 if does pretty much what he did this past season, but to me a trade for Hamels and a signing of Shields is of paramount importance to the success of the club in 2015 and somehow Cherington has to make it happen.

Don't hold your breath on both or even one happening Fred.

Maybe the Sox are not done trading for SP? I'm not in love with Hamels.

James Shields

Yes, I think James Prophylactics is the call now. It would mean we've been able to hang on to all of our prospects except Rubby and Webster. That would be pretty cool.

It was a great move holding onto Bradley and Middlebrooks over the last couple of years.

lulz

Shields would be nice. Although 4+ years is what it will take and 96-115 mil.

Oye. Maybe the Sox don't buy a new #1 and wait for next off-season?

"Rotation by Committee."

Porcello is similar to Bronson Arroyo when we traded him. All we got in return was that trainwreck Wily No Pena. Maybe we overpaid for Porcello.

Worst case scenario, you get a consolation draft pick next year. You were not getting that with Cespedes.

Not sure why everybody is excited about Porcello/Miley/Masterson combo. Some even are saying, that we will be oks if an #1 arm doesn't arrive. Not sure what I'm missing, but this rotation as it is, is pathetic. On the other hand if they land a couple of solid Pitchers, they will be a good 3,4,5, with depth. Hopefully they get it done and bring those arms and for once and for all they assemble a solid rotation this time.

Yes. If this is the finished product, it will be a disappointing season.

I think it's the finished product. Ben will be happy masturbating to all the ground balls while wearing his panda head. I'm not quite that happy. The rotation may be good. They have all had a good season before, except Kelly who's never pitched a full season. They could also compete with the Rockies for worst ERA in MLB. Every starter is a question mark. For the 3rd highest payroll in baseball with lots of flexibility coming into the offseason, I expected a lot more certainty in the rotation.

Its not pathetic, but it is not better than run of the mill. Third place finish most likely, which is an upgrade from last place.

Exactly zero people have said that the Sox will be ok if they don't get a #1. The closest thing to that that has been said is that the Sox can stand pat and land a rental during the season. Take the time to actually read what others say and/or stop making stuff up. Also, people are excited about these guys because no matter what, they're better than most of the crap we put out there last season. Stop being such a whiner.

Alrighty then. How shall we define the boundaries of shitstomped?

He has to be worse than league average in two of the following three categories: ERA, IP, and WHIP.
