we don't need another move for a starter till his turn this Sunday. Drew is taking Doubront roster right now.

Drew is not ready to go. Said he needs at least 5 full games.

But isn't Drew officially listed on the 25 man roster now? I'm not sure but I believe that I read that yesterday.

I think that the Sox will bring up SP as needed. Sort of "Starter by committee".

I suspect the Sox will decide who to bring up based on the lineup that the pitcher will face in each game rather than who appears to be performing best at Pawtucket now.

Just my hunch.

It would be great if one of our alleged young pitching stars could come up now and show great stuff like what happens in places like St. Louis.

We might as well bring up Rubby and see what he has got. If he bombs in 2 straight starts, bring up Barnes.

Or:

Webster for two bombings

Rubby for two shellings

Barnes

What did they say about our "rich and talented" farm system? People here are already betting that Webster, Rubby, and Workman will get either bombed or shelled. We already have one flop in Bradley, a seemingly waste now in Middlebrooks and a top prospect who can't hit with men on base to save his ass. So much for our great farm system.....at least until a couple of them show they are more than stiffs.

Drew is on the roster because he signed a major league contract. When he's ready to play, Holt will be on his way back down and I think it will be Workman who comes up. Not sure about his last two starts but RDLR apparently forgot where the strike zone was after his hot start.

The official report on Doubront is in.

He bumped his shoulder into a car door and bruised it. There is no structural damage, and only minor overuse.

Well, I guess it is a better excuse than blaming a baby. Maybe he is still tradeable.

Yeah Bogaerts doesn't have a 123 wRC+ or a .380 OBP, or a .795 OPS as a 21 year old SS. He's definitely not a top 6 offensive SS in the game right now, or wait...

And Workman? Didn't close out the 8th inning of the WS. Didn't post 8.2 innings of scoreless baseball in the postseason.

JBJ has struggled, but his defense is outstanding and his bat will come around.

I think, Fred, unless every prospect comes up and posts a Trout-esque season, you consider them failures and the farm a bust. You have to have patients with them.

This looks like a phantom DL stint to me. He's struggling, has no options and the Red Sox don't want to put him on waivers because someone will absolutely claim him. That's just the way I see it tho.

Can Fred please go on vacation again? He's ruining the Talksox experience for me.

Hopefully he still has me blocked.

If so, I'm going to have to quote your post from the "sox ate embarrassiment" thread! LMAO!

Let's take that step by step SFF. Bogaerts until just the other day was hitting about 100 with men on base.....Not good. Workman is getting blistered down at Pawtucket. Look it up. Bradley is hitting a "gaudy" 201 right now. These are facts, not pleasant but the truth. And the truth sometimes hurts. Now I expect Bogey to get in gear and wind up having a stellar season but I have deep reservations as to whether Bradley is ever going to be able to hit Major League pitching consistently. And like it or not right now Workman has regressed.

I don't expect Trout like performances but when young players are hyped as some of ours were I expect some better than a 201 average, a 105 average with runners on base and a pitcher who is getting clobbered in Triple A. Just because I hear some blubber belly doesn't like to hear bad things (not you), it doesn't make them less true.
