"You are the least indicated to say this," is not only grammatically wrong, but it's redundantly confusing. Indicated is a past tense verb, and since you said used "you are" it started in the present tense, so you shouldn't switch tenses. Also, to indicate is to point something out. To say means to communicate. Even in the proper tense your sentence would have meant, "You are the least to point out to communicate this." Makes zero sense. Use a different word than indicate.

I know you are not a native speaker, so don't take this the wrong way. I'm an English major, so I love reconstructing sentences.

Do you speak Spanish? I wanted to say: "el menos indicado para decir esto eres tú"

No problem rj. Maybe I should have said "the least likely to say this is you" hahaha IDK. I really appreciate your advise.

The problem is that some people here not only don't understand the difference between a personal attack and the deconstruction of an argument, but they also feel the need to stick their noses in the mud and turn the whole shebang into a clusterf***. In iortiz' case, there's a lot of stuff he doesn't understand the meaning of, then not only does he misinterpret, but he also creates a fight by turning it personal. If SoxSport gets called out on the dumb s*** he says and it doesn't bother him, it shouldn't bother iortiz and a700. They seem to have a crusade as the "protectors of Talksox" and instead end up creating what little tension you see on the site anymore. Mind your own business, and read others' comments for what they are. Case closed.

The real problem is that people fuel the fire. Someone called me dumb just a page ago, and I let it go. I used to get worked up about little potshots, but I find that I enjoy this place a lot more if I just let it go.

You asked me if i were a NYY fan and I took it as a joke and let it go in the other thread.

I used to let it go as well, but his attacks are turning ridiculous and all over the place.

I said that to SS as a joke. It wasn't directed at you.

No in this thread, the other one, and yeah! I took it as a joke, but then came U? and the rest is history.

You are the least indicated to say this. You have had problems with almost every poster in this board since your personal attacks. Your "Reading comprehension, common sense, you are an idiot" ******** rhetoric that you have used to claim yourself better than other posters needs to stop. For once and for all you must understand that this is about opinions and nobody holds the entire true. Said that, every time you behave nasty, I will call you out. Count on that, brah.
Boy, how did UN manage to get me involved in this? Maybe he is a bit obsessed with me, because I will not engage him and ignore his posts. He has nothing so useful to say that can overcome the s***-ton of nonsense that comes along with it. The cost benefit analysis of reading him is too far out of whack on the cost side. As for SS, he gets stuff off his chest and he often refuses to engage in a pissing contest with those who disagree with him. Good for him. He's not obligated to argue with anyone demanding that he support his opinion. He is immune to the compulsion that others have to prove people wrong. Those are the posters that bore ands annoy me, especially in the realm of opinion.

Again, difference between personal attack and deconstructing an argument. Saying something you said is dumb is not the same as calling you, personally, dumb.

We all say dumb thing sometimes, and in a place of open debate like this, we should expect to be called out on it. Not only should we not get mad, we shouldn't make a habit of creating discord by fueling the fire as you say.

Case in point of my post.

mind your own business, didn't you say that?. And no, I wasn't referring to the post of this thread. Again, mind your on business.

This all along. Some people simply doesn't understand this.

Do not worry, U? is obsessed with you with me, with SS, Fred, Jacko, divinity and even Papelbon, LOL!

Now I remember why I stopped coming onto talksox.
It's slow. People are housebound in bad weather and all the big names are off the board so they are picking fights. In less than a month, pitchers and catchers report and the baseball talk will be in full swing.

I can understand him hating everyone listed, but his hateful obsession with Papelbon is ridiculous.

There's a difference between attacking and disagreeing.

The Yankees fan comment is dumb though.

Pal is not a dumb poster. Pal's comment was dumb. This is not a personal attack at all.

Ex:

"Suns is an idiot" is an attack

"That post by suns was just troll bait" is not an attack

We are enduring the frozen tundra in NY. I will be making the pilgrimage to Fort Myers for the 11th straight year. I am looking forward to seeing some of the new kids. How are things with you?

Everything is fine... the work, the family, and hoping that I finally go to Boston this year. I'll let you know which series and if you are around we shall drink a couple of cold beers hahaha.

I've been reading with more detail SS's posts and I still don't understand all this crusade and bullying against him. While he talks about baseball (you can agree or disagree), posters attack him. This must stop. If they do not like his posts, ignore him.

You know iortiz, I think Sox Sport has shown remarkable patience and good cheer not responding with angry retaliation for the personal attacks that always seem to come his way. Now with Palodios I think he might have misinterpreted SS's true intent. I looked at the HOORAY as being said in a sarcastic and humorous tone. Then I also could be wrong but as one who was once totally ridiculously accused of not really being a Red Sox fan I can understand how such an accusation could piss someone off. Sox Sport is a Red Sox fan and is also a pretty knowledgeable baseball man IMO. Perhaps he doesn't respond because he has put his chief antagonist on ignore as I and a couple of others have. Truth be told, though, I would like SS to clear up to others what he meant by that hooray. He doesn't have to clear it up with me because I think I know why.

Not sarcastic at all.

Most of us can breathe a sigh of relief--maybe. The MF Yankees are rumored to be thinking about signing Drew.

It looks like my prediction might come true--the yanks might sign Drew. The Red Sox are smiling.

For the Boras money Drew will get' date=' he's a poor investment for the Red Sox because they don't need him as a full time position player. [/quote']

The arguments for signing Drew keep getting nuttier. Not for the money Boras wants. The guy no longer fits on this team.

Give their prospects a chance' date=' and let the other losers fight it out. Repeating doesn't depend on Drew, X or Middlebrooks.[/quote']

Tell me the odds of us winning the WS if Middlebrooks didn't hit that double in the bottom 8th of ALCS Game 2.

Also, we must get Drew back. I can't handle the Yanks getting him; one position player switching teams and playing traitor is bad enough. The breaking down of what it means to be allied to a team is dangerous for the sport's popularity. Nobody wants to see their team's established traditional players get moneyball'd away to other teams just for a slight statistical reason. You can't just let math dictate the market or the sport will lose all its character; people won't be attached to their teams anymore and baseball's popularity will go down.

Making your argument based on one hit in a postseason game makes no sense at all. Prior performance in a single game, postseason or no, should not factor in to resigning a player. After the 2011 World Series, David Freese could have received the key to the city of St. Louis while having anal sex with the mayor's underage daughter during the ceremony. And what did he accomplish for the Cardinals in the 2013 World Series? Take a look at some of the Cardinal fan's Twitter feeds. You would be convinced the man single-handedly planned and executed 9/11. Dave Roberts stole the most important base in the history of Boston Red Sox baseball, and he was gone the next season. Aaron Boone had one of the most dramatic home runs in Yankee history, but that's the only thing anyone ever remembers about him, aside from his having the most redneck-sounding name in the history of organized sports besides maybe Bubba Watson. I'm open to arguments for or against guys like Middlebrooks and Drew and Bogaerts, but the only performances that should be used as debate points are season-long performances, not nine-inning performances.

You clearly don't understand what "Moneyball" entails, (and that's not really even a thing), and this post is one of the things that makes less sense that i have ever read.

Navafan, how old are you?

I wasn't trying to make an argument in a debate. Not everything is an argument in some debate. I was just stating an interesting fact about how Middlebrooks affected the outcome of our WS championship. And tell me how fun it would be to watch a sport with an exaggerated version of the trading mindset that exists. Imagine Jeter being on the Yanks one year, the mets another, and then the Sox another. Over half your team being traded away for some slight statistical advantage each year, etc. Do I have to be an aggressive new-age logichound "conventional" thinker to make sense nowadays? And I'm 19.

Fortunately you will get more wish. More and more superstars are being locked up early, and for their careers. We'll have the luxury of seeing Pedroia his entire career, and by the sound of it, Lester too. Ortiz. Possibly Buchholz, although that is assuming he'll have a short career. And a big pile of youngsters that will get long term deals early in their team control.

Drew isn't one of this team's guys -- he's a mercenary -- unless they feel like solidifying the SS role that hasn't seen stability at all in the last decade.

Posted

Yeah that's why i find what he's saying so strange. The advent of widespread statistical analysis has had the opposite effect of what he states. Teams are locking up young talent earlier because statistical analysis permits a more accurate prediction of career arc and has provided teams with a better idea of the value of homegrown talent.

You don't need to be a logichound of whatever else it is you're saying, you just need to think logically period.
