No. It was just a joke because A700 has always hated Theo's moves. The only time he was happy with Theo was when they signed CC. He even changed his avatar to show Theo during that offseason. That move didn't quite work out.

I liked AGONS and a few other moves, but I didn't like at all his overall last 5-years of his tenure.

Theo really messed up on that one.

I actually blame John Henry too. He said he didn't support the deal and thought CC wasn't a good fit. With that amount of money, he should have stepped in and vetoed it.

The guy also had a chronically bad elbow that should have been closely examined. And they paid something like $24 million more than his next highest offer. I will mea culpa that I wanted to get the guy, but I did not want to overpay him to the point of payroll gridlock and take him with a known physical condition.

Larry Lucchino has publicly stated he was the driving force behind the Crawford signing. This cannot be stressed enough.

There's more than enough blame to go around.

However, LL is the worst part of this organization. I don't care how SFF's car seat feels about it. f*** that guy.

I think that neither of us really know who really make the last call for each "good"/"bad" move. Some said that LL was who traded AGON/CC/Beckett, and who is responsible of the new FA signing policy in the Boston Red Sox which was a huge cancer in the recent years...IDK. I think that we have to blame/clap the whole FO, from top to the bottom. Cherries has to be blamed in Theo's last years ternure as well, since he was part of that FO. What is his cut in that blame? who the hell knows… These days the actual FO has done very well and LL & Cherries are part of it. What are their respective cuts? IDK.

I don't really care about the blame pie all that much. Just glad they won another WS.

Larry is still the worst though.

LOL^^^

Anyway and back to topic, I think that we will not see a Cano/Ells/CC/Agons/Choo/etc type of contracts again in our team in the coming years.

While I mostly agree with this, I think that the big factor is years. They have no problem paying the AAV, but the out-of-prime years kill teams. I wouldn't be surprised if they go after someone like Tanaka though -- years 26-33 of a player is significantly more valuable than years 33-40.

The thing about Tanaka though, is that it's obvious they'd have to outbid the Yankees. How high do you go and at what point are you just trying to make the Yankees pay as much as possible?

2014 will be Theo's third year. I would expect a .500 record by year 3. If he can't manage that, IMO his plan is not on track. Also, the Cubs very loyal fan base has been going to the park less often, down 400,000 from 2011.

I would give Epstein another season (2014) to get the preliminaries of his rebuilding job out of the way. If by 2015 things haven't turned around you're pretty accurate take on him (IMHO) will be pretty much on the money. If he succeeds we can ascertain that he might have been pressured to go the other way in his last years in Boston with Lucchino and Werner meddling for all they were worth and hitting on "sexy" players and trying to improve TV ratings over winning. So also said Francona in his book. BTW---took your advice and put that guy on ignore. Glad I will not have to deal with that dweeb anymore.

Do you want to start a s*** storm?

As your friend, do yourself, 700 Hitter and me a favor and put him on ignore. You'll feel a lot better and a lot smarter than me since I should have done that months ago.

Larry is fine in HIS job at CEO---promotions, public relations, fan entertainment, etc. It is when he starts meddling in baseball operations that he becomes a total and complete *******......and he always seems tempted to ease his way into BO. Henry must keep his eye on this guy at all times and tell him in no uncertain terms to stay in his balliwick and out of Cherington and Farrell's hair.

A 100 M/5Y contract would be my cap for him, although it probably wouldn't outbid anyone LOL!

Cubs were am absolute grease fire when Epstien took over. The Sox had a decent roster. If I was a Cubs fan I'd be excited for 2015 and hope for top 5 picks for the next 2 years. The hell with that 80 win crap. When the young talent is ready to take over that is the time to spend the money and go for it. Which is what they are doing in Chicago and they have some really nice prospects in the pipeline. Theo's job should not be in question

I would think Theo is in good shape with his bosses for the next two seasons but year No. 5 must see some real progress in the "W" column or IMO there good be some very anxious and dissatisfied people in Chi Town. No one with an ounce of fairness in them could hold him accountable for these first two seasons at the helm. The Cubs had a lot of bloated contracts and a bunch of journeymen and mediocrities in their lineup. Most of those are gone and there are four or five real standouts getting close to making it to Wrigley Field. 2016 is the year Epstein has to put up or start packing.

smh at the butthurt Yankees fans destroying Cano on Twitter. Oh, so he's the bad guy for taking the money? But if the Yankees had given him that same money to stay, you would have been dancing in the streets. Dirtbags.
