I feel your anger, frustration and can tell you I feel the same way. We can do something about this Pal but it would take a complete Red Sox team effort to do it---and it could be more easily said than done. IT WOULD BE TO GO ALL OUT THIS YEAR AND ONCE AGAIN WIN THE WORLD SERIES.

Fred, the Yankees just spent 500 million dollars on their roster after an awful season, and spent money on a pile of win-now signings that will hurt them in the years ahead. It doesn't matter how the Red Sox do, it just depends on how the Yankees do.

If the Red Sox and Rays can hit them on both ends --a losing record early, and no playoffs on the end -- their fanbase will continue to plummet more than it already has. This is a team whose fanbase probably hasn't seen a losing season since before they were born.

They spent that money Pal because we won the World Series....I am convinced of that, and that is why I am now convinced there must be no slacking off on our part. The Red Sox have to be as relentless as they were in 2013 and if anything more determined to take care of the Yankees. I know Jacko Pin and others are exceptions to the rule but there are lots of fans of that club that are a pack of entitled spoiled front runners and to see them flee like rats if and when they fall apart will be music to our ears. Unfortunately for them they have an aged team, they lost their ninth inning slam dunk artist as well as their best player. I will tell you this, though and mark my words. We beat them for the AL East Title or the American League Championship this coming season they will once again spend themselves into a druken stupor. With them it's always WS Title or bust. We must bust them.

The Red Sox are fielding an AL East contender at the moment. And after a WS that's pretty much all us fans can hope for going into the next season. Now it all comes down to which way the ? fall and that's what makes it fun :D

I can't even fathom what would NY's response be to a Sox repeat. If the Sox repeat and the Yanks have a losing season? hahaha And after all of that Arod comes back in 2015 hahaha I don't believe there to be a sweeter season then that from a Red Sox fan's perspective. That's it, that's the mountain top..

The injury gods decided we should have a losing season last yr. And we didn't.

I wouldn't think any NYY fan would consider, tied for 3rd and 12 games out of first place anything but a losing season

No they didn't. Let me know when you have a season as catastrophic as the Sox' 2010.

The Yankees aren't having a losing season. The sox could repeat, but their chances have diminished since losing 3 players.

I still don't understand how losing Salty actually hurt the Red Sox. Pitchers actively tried to not throw to him. Beckett blatantly refused, and Lester may have asked nicely. A year ago, I believed that the Red Sox pitching staff's ERA could drop an average of .30 points solely by getting rid of him.

I agree. Losing Salty might benefit our pitching.

Probably offensively. Probably AJ/Ross combo arguably won't post what Salty did, but still I prefer a drop in that regard than him behind the plate. In fact I do not see him posting those numbers again anyway.

You know BSN, I've had it in for the Yankees since I was seven years old and since I'm in my early 70's you know that's helluva long time to despise a team. True the Yankees have been a great team for most of the past century and I have to give them that, albeit reluctantly, but truth be told, I know deep in my bones that they have also blessed with the gods of fate smiling on them, some of the most amazing luck and good fortune a team could have. It is high time for them to feel the heel of the anvil and start suffering like so many other teams have and that is what I was referring to with Palodios. Let them eat some dirt for a couple of decades and have their noses in our butts. I don't think that's too much to ask, is it?

"Yanks won't be signing anymore notable FA's this off-season, Cashman said yesterday the bank is basically closed."

Source: Divinity

And I was right, Yankees won't be signing Drew.

"The Yankees could use an infielder like Stephen Drew, but are highly unlikely to bid for him, according to major league officials who have been in contact with Yankee brass."

"There is a belief among agents and rival clubs that GM Brian Cashman is genuine in his public statements that he will begin the season with Roberts, Johnson, Eduardo Nunez and Brendan Ryan, and is done making significant acquisitions."

Makes absolutely no sense. They've spent enough to put them in the playoff hunt. They have a major hole at 2B, and Drew can be expected to be at least average. That upgrade would be extremely valuable considering that two wins could be the difference in a playoff berth, and a second straight postseason miss.

Since when do the Yankee's go by their word? There's been so many times I've heard, we wont be pursuing this person and then BAM, he's signed.

Well if you never learn anything else about the Yankees you learned the main facet of their persona. They are a bunch of treacherous lying bastards.

Why show your hand? There is no benefit in showing your hand. If Cashman came out tonight and said, "Yeah, we want Stephen Drew", immediately those who were waiting for him to drop will open their wallets and the price rises. Cashman looks at the market, trumps the market and usually gives take it or leave it ultimatums. That way, they cannot take that offer and shop it around for a higher bidder. That is, if Cashman wants a player. What they did with Cano was go to a reasonable offer, and not go over, I think secretly wanting him to move on. Cano is a hell of a player, but he doesn't play like the face of a franchise. So why make him the face of the franchise until he's 41 if he doesn't display what you want to see on the field?

Agree on the first point, but now he didn't play like the face of the franchise? What exactly do you mean by that?

He's no Jetes.

His lackadaisical play didn't endear him to NYers. I loved him, don't get me wrong, but most fans I know didn't see him as the face of the franchise. He seemed to be more about himself than anything else, and he just seemed to take plays off. He has the stats, but he doesn't have the heart like Jeter has shown. It's completely subjective. Cano doesn't have that diving into the stands moment. He doesn't have the singular event where he elevated his game and was otherworldly when it mattered. I have a hard time putting my finger on it. Maybe McCann becomes the new face of the franchise, from what I have heard, he's the leader type and could step up as Jeter steps away

The funny part about that is that i'm pretty sure i recall you defending Cano's in-game focus and concentration to death in a prior thread. Now that he's gone though.....

that's hardly fair

he said he loved the guy and was talking about most fans

and I agree

enough already about cano

he left 4 close 2 an extra 100 mill

no way yanks were going there

mostly because they feared those RSP's showing up again

I'm commenting on the feel of my fellow Yankee fans. I liked Cano, I thought he was focused and played great for us. I'll miss him, but he was never embraced by my fellow fans as much as I thought he should be. He was perceived as being lazy, but it was pretty obvious that he wasn't based on his production

He can talk for himself.
