If the season started today, the red sox bench would consist of Gomes, Ross, Carp, and utility free agent. I'm assuming that Carp would be moved if the sox signed another OF.

I think we need a utility infielder over 6th outfielder

Don't raise it at all. And calm down, since you are the one who's clearly wrong here. Let it go. You are the adult here, so act like it.

First of all I will raise anything I need to, especially if it is in a humorous vein, and I am very calm right now and certainly not wrong here either. You the one who is wrong for butting in and trying to act like a censor. Your best bet is to let this drop now because you had no business interjecting your two cents into a conversation I was having with Bellhorn.

Also, you do do the incessant needling thing mind you. The whole "i'm wealthy because i'm usually online" s*** got old the first time, and you made like 10 posts about it. I have a laptop, tablet, and phone, and they all have internet. Let it go.

What the hell are you talking about? That post of yours sounds like the mumblings of an elephant. I will let it go when you do. Stop butting into conversations that don't include you unless it is baseball related.

Please quit reminding us and/or rubbing it in our faces that you were not a Red Sox fan (prior to 2001 for whatever reason). It makes my stomach hurt. Especially when you can't let go of 2011-2012, can't stop s***ing on Tito and the ownership.

We've won 3 WS in your fandom time. Mine too. But we've been there and done that for our ENTIRE LIVES. Please give it a rest.

Thanks.

Sorry VA but you sound a lot like User with that post. First of all I wasn't s***ing on Francona. He was s***ing on ownership as you should know if you read his book. Secondly, I don't see how I was rubbing your face in the dirt in any way. I was making a statement to Bellhorn about past Red Sox doings and I really can't see how that would make your stomach hurt. The three WS Titles have been terrific and I guess I'm lucky I didn't have to endure the heartbreak so many of you had before I came on board. As for 2011 and 2012--it happened; it's part of Red Sox history. Pray to the heavens we never have anything like that again. As for my being a Red Sox fan, I thank God every day (every damn day) that he helped me find my team. Now on to better things like not spending big bucks on players we don't need. As I said before, I really think we are pretty much good to go in 2014 save for a good utility IF and a RH hitting outfielder. Then we're set IMHO.

Put him on ignore and let him pick his fights with someone else. Let me get this straight, he has his underwear tied in knots because you kidded him that he must be independently wealthy because he is on the internet all day. That should tell you that he just looking for a fight. Answer him with silence. Anything he adds on the baseball side of the ledger is undone by all the fighting. Engaging with him is not worth it when he has it in for you.

Sometimes, I forget we're all adults here..

RSFFL, I humorously poked you in a related post---all in fun and someone who will not be named attacked me. Just for the record, my name Frederick means calm and peaceful ruler in Teutonic lore. I do not look for fights but if I'm attacked I will retaliate in kind. We are all adults RSFFL but we have different DNA's. I don't go looking for trouble but if someone gets snotty with me I will get snotty with them. I don't like to do this and I thought for the past week all was well, but there are those who think they are thought police and can dictate what others should say. That doesn't work with me. Anyway, we hopefully will be back to talking baseball tomorrow.

I've tried like hell the last week or so to get along with the guy but seems intent on pulling my chain and if he does it will be bombs for bombs until he stops. BTW with this new set-up how to I put him on ignore anyway? Let me know.

I saw you mentioned me in a post, but I did not care. I did take shots at you earlier, so there's nothing really to be said. I'm not going to attack you for something I did. In the end, we're all Red Sox fans ad love our team.

Kid is 15 and mature for his age.

I know. It was really just a joke about his age. Sometimes he does seem to have a cooler head than a lot of other posters here.

Rumor is we are interested in Carlos Marmol. Please don't do this Ben. This is another Melancom head case.

If he is a cheap hitch, who cares? One thing we know if you cannot have enough relievers.

You don't seem calm. And just like you will "Raise anything you need to", i will interject wherever i want to, mr. censor hypocrite.

I'm telling you to quit while you're ahead. You'd do well to heed my advice, but i don't really care either way.

Back to baseball.

In a piece for ESPN.com, Jerry Crasnick breaks down all the teams that could make a run at Shin-Soo Choo, including the Red Sox, Orioles, and Yankees. Crasnick concludes that the lack of very strong candidates doesn't necessarily bode well for Choo's chances of landing a $130MM+ contract, but cautions, as always, not to underestimate Scott Boras.

if Stephen Drew is willing to sign for two years or less, he'll likely just return to Boston, tweets Newsday's David Lennon, who adds that the Mets will probably need the Red Sox out of the mix to have a real shot at the shortstop.

Yeah Drew's probably coming back to the Sox.

Haha it really is a crazy board to read on times. Entertaining though. :D

Around every month or so, you feel the need to post about rooting against the Red Sox and not being a fan in the past. It gets old and a lot of us don't want to hear it.

Here's Dirt Dog's cracked out offseason trade that will never happen:

Trade Ryan Dempster for Ichiro.

Saves Sox money, and gives us that speed guy off the bench. Yankees get a pitching body! Win-Win! wooo!

The kid is okay. Good poster.

Dirtdog I proposed a similar scenario with Peavy and Gardner and was crucified. Ichiro seems great but the lefthandedness hurts him here.
I liked your suggestion. The Yankee - Red Sox thing is the only hurdle. Otherwise, IMO it works for both teams.

This would be a good idea if Ichiro wasn't arguably the worst hitter in baseball last year. He can't hit anyone anymore.

Yeah Drew's probably coming back to the Sox.

that pleases me. Stephen Drew is one of the best shortstops out there, frankly I think he's fully capable of a better season than he had last year.

I think they could get enough AB's for WMB by shuffling him between 3B/1B when XB or Napoli need a day off, and sitting Drew against tough lefties, moving XB to SS.

So Wmb would play 1 or 2 a week? While signing Drew and keeping WMB is possible, it doesn't make sense. We already know that Farrel will not platoon Drew, and XB needs to get as many AB's as possible.

I wouldn't infer anything about how Farrell will handle 2014 from how he handled a 4 week tournament. There are PAs to be had for everybody among those spots. But if Drew comes back, yes, he will be taken seriously as the starter (and well he should).

I think they wouldn't straight platoon him, but they could make compromises to find WMB playing time.
