Rubby not ready for prime time. Neither is Bradley.

and Thornton is a heart attack.

Farrell didn't take this game very seriously from his choice of relievers. They still need to get best AL record for home field advantage. That will be important.

We went into this game with a 4 game lead for the AL's best record.

He's not going to burn out Breslow, Tazawa, Workman, and Koji just so that he can have home field advantage and blow late leads because the bullpen is shot.

He has to pick his spots that he goes to his horses. He can't do it in every close game where we are tied or behind. If we had lost one or both of the prior two game Rubby doesn't pitch last night. He has to keep these guys fresh.

BTW: How are people feeling about Rubby after a year in our organization. He has been very inconsistent, and his bad stretches have been horrendous. I thought he might have a future with us as a late inning reliever, but despite his velocity I don't think he has the "put away" pitch. I think Webster has the late inning dominating put away stuff if he can improve his command. Neither one will break camp with the Red Sox as a starter in 2014.

I'm holding off on my opinion on Rubby until next season. I think we're seeing a very fatigued arm right now, which is kind of expected since this is the first full season he's pitched since 2010 (had TJS in 2011, missed all of 2012). Control is the last thing to come. I am a little disappointed so far, but I think he'll make some nice strides.

I would have liked to have seen Webster in the game last night instead of Rubby. I am dying to see what he can do in short stints like he did in spring training. His stuff was much more electric in ST than it was in the rotation.

Another stunning revelation from SoxSport.

Though it doesn't touch your gem from a few days ago: "Dempster's WHIP is almost 1.5. That's a sign he's getting hit and walking guys."

Are you even a real person?

To make the playoffs and get home field, the Sox are really going to need win as many games as possible down the stretch. The best way to do that is to score more runs than their opponents.

To watch the game, VA will have to leave her house.

Yeah, I'd have to drive 2 hours to my brother's house in No VA to watch the game. But with traffic it could take 3 hours.

Each team's 3 best starters. Yankees send their #1, 2, and 3, while the Sox send their #3, 2, and 1.

Fun game - tried to steal it with the "other guys" bullpen. Good result either way.

Just as long as Farrell refrains from using Delarosa in a clutch situation. I have gone round and round with some on this board who have been royally pissed at me for running this guy down but I haven't changed my opinion on him at all. He throws a straight as an arrow fastball, a radar ball that seem to find bats. He gets hit hard just as he did when he pitched for the Dodgers and his arm operation doesn't change the fact that he is another Manny Delcarmen in the making. The Red Sox would be wise to see what team thinks the guy has some potential and get rid of him this winter. I do not believe he is going to make it and I'm not certain about Webster either. Both those ex-Dodger darlings have shown nothing but failure when pitching for us. Very little promise in a Red Sox uniform.

Sorry for the rant but I just don't like these two.

Apology not accepted. We get it, you don't like the guy, but he's a a kid with massive potential coming back from surgery. It's hypocritical of you to whine about how people discard your binky Lavarnway who's clearly an inferior talent, then turn around and s*** all over RDLR regardless of how little time he's had to prove himself post-surgery. Be consistent.

Perhaps you should take a good look at the stat sheet. Lavarnway is hitting over 300 in his rare appearances for the Red Sox and has show a flair for hitting with men on base. Delarosa stunk for the Dodgers and he has stunk for us. The stats say so. It has nothing to do about not liking the guy personally. I don't like the way he throws, I don't like how he gets lit up and I don't like what he has shown so far. Anytime you want to wager me on your boy DLR I will bet you he never wins 15 games for the Red Sox in any one season or saves 25 games. You're on.

OTOH, I'm really in a good mood after what happened tonight, so I am not pissed off at you personally. We will have to agree to disagree....AGAIN!!!!!!!
