Not to mention that they didn't acknowledge that they got a lot of assistance from the refs.

Umps. This isn't soccer limey. ;)

Lmao, they last 2 days and acted like they were the s***. They took multiple shots at the Red Sox. Now they just look stupid. You can tell they've been waiting since April to post that, scrubs.

They had a great month, but when when you get a spree of 14 games against the Twins, Astros and White Sox... you're going to win some games.

What a f***ing game. I was at work all night and had to keep up via game cast... once it got to 7-1, I pretty much shut it down. Walked out of work and looked at the score to see how bad it ended only to come on with the score 7-6, two men on, nobody out and Papi at the plate. Knew right then we'd win this one. Listened to the Gomes, Drew, and Nava ABs on the way home. Unfreakingbelievable. To come back from 5 runs down in the bottom of the ninth to win is unreal.

Love love love this team. It's a complete 180 from last year's putrid garbage.

Here's a crazy thought. SSS and whatnot... but is Steven Wright good enough to stick around in the majors?

Steven Wright is going to wake up tomorrow morning and piss pure excellence.

At least he'll have this night, in which he screwed Felix Hernandez out of a win, as a treasured memory he'll be able to hold on to forever.

That's what he gets for wearing his cap like an idiot!

He's a homer but I've seen him respond well to other fans when they call him out on the Rays abysmal fan showout at games. He loves his team just like us but isn't so stupid to not realize the fans are horrible down there for not turning out to see a top notch club.

He's obnoxious in a lot of ways, but I don't blame him for loving his team.

This is why Felix will not reach 300 wins. He's been screwed out of 7-10 wins every year.

It was still a s***** tweet. He can kiss my ass. Stick to College Basketball and annoy everyone during that season as usual.

Hey c'mon now. Felix can wears it anyway he wants. Rodney on the other hand can f*** off.

Yes he can. But he still looks like an idiot.

Not saying it wasn't. And I wasn't trying to defend him per se. Just saying he's no more a homer than any of us are. More obnoxious... absolutely.

Rays had a stretch of pitching where the starting staff collectively performed like 1999 Pedro. That is not something you can bet on.

Tonight though was a bit of a clinic on dealing with really good pitching. Felix was very good, but we competed - had good at bats, got the pitch count up. Did not have much to show for it, but it did get us into the bullpen - and every second not facing Felix was a chance to claw back.

BTW: his twitter feed is amazing. The dude is like 250 years old and he churns out the volume - and is there a topic he won't blather about?

Cheap laughs.

I think this is one of the best posts I've ever created...

I want to go through all of the biggest reliever contracts in baseball history for non-Rivera players.

2) Lidge 2009-2011, Save percentage 78%. 7.21 ERA in 2009, injured in 2011.

3)K-rod 2009-2011, Stats okay, 6 blown saves per year, but he turned into a PR/clubhouse nightmare.

4)Joe Nathan 2008-2011 Missed a season and a half with injuries.

5) Soriano 2011--2013 In the first year alone he missed a month with injuries and pitched to a 4.00+ ERA.

6) Billy Wagner 2006-2009 -- Was effective for first few years, but missed most of 2009.

7)Trevor Hoffman 2010-- 5.89 ERA.

8) Kerry Wood --2009-2010, completely ineffective the first half of 2010.

9) Broxton 2010-2011-- 4.04 ERA in 2010, 5.68 in just a few innings in 2011.

10) BJ Ryan 2006-2010-- In a five year contract, he missed two and a half FULL seasons.

11) Bobby Jenks 2010-- 4.40 ERA

12) Bobby Jenks 2011-2012 -- Enough said.

Paying big money for relievers is always a bad idea. Look at the list, look at any article on relief pitchers on fangraphs, yahoo sports, baseball reference. Its a bad idea.

I was wondering if Wright would stick the last time he did this and it did not happen. I guess I am less inclined to think it will happen this time. Sox FO might just think he has a hex on the Mariners. Even if it was a different team tonight, I don't think Wright will stick. Don't think the Sox trust that he can be reliable just yet.

At least they should give him one more shot before sending him right down but don't think it will happen.

He is a viable option for them - I can see them doing some machinations to keep him postseason eligible. Sox have a severe lack of multi inning relief options - it's basically Workman, Wright or bust. I expect the Sox will do everything they can to at least have access to him for the playoff roster.

Drake Britton. Plus, Morales and Wilson should be back eventually. All of those guys have been starters at some point recently.

Sox are 66 and 44 and in 1st place. Interestingly, in 2011 today, the sox were 66 and 41

No way that happens again. This looks like a tight race between two teams that have been giving us trouble the past few years. I hope we ruin one of their chances of going to the playoffs, so we can get some payback.

This team will go through short struggles, but I just don't this team collapsing. They're too focused and too much of a tight unit to ever let anything like that happen (and in 2011, it certainly felt like they "let" it happen at times).
