In a fantasy league, if you owned Mike Trout, would you trade him for Jean Segura and Kyle Kendrick?

I would trade Mike Trout straight up for Jean Segura if I needed a shortstop. Segura's a really dynamic player.

Don't ask for my opinion if you don't want an honest answer. Segura isn't a fluke, he's a top 3 shortstop and there's a lot more position scarcity at shortstop than there is in the outfield.

Nothing compares to the way GOM cheats though.

He's still cheating mind you.

He made with 26 to 6 where he received Justin Verlander, Justin Masterson and Starling Marter for Teixeira, Hamilton, Scutaro and Peavy.

Not only are Teixeira and Peavy now on the DL, but Scutaro and Hamilton are barely hitting.

I have no problem with your answer. I'd just like to make some fantasy trades with you, that's all

Trout's defense doesn't matter for s*** in fantasy baseball. Segura has and will likely continue to provide offense that is just as good compared to other players at his position.

That's kinda the point. In a league that uses OBP, R, RBI, SB, TB Trout is outproducing Segura comfortably in every category except SB. Defense doesn't mean crap.

Also, you're a big stat buff, so tell me how Segura's going to keep up having a decent OBP with a .353 BABIP and a walk rate below 4%? Or are stats only applicable for players you're not high on?

Mike Trout has a .345 BABIP. You really think the 8 point difference is going to be a difference maker? Mike Trout is overrated because he's coming off a season in which he had a .384 BABIP and he plays great defense. I would have sold high on him and tried to squeeze more than just one player out of him, but if someone offered Segura for him and I didn't have a good shortstop, I would accept the trade.

I don't think you read what I said, I said compared to other players at their position, Segura is likely to perform just as well. Outfielders are a dime a dozen. Shortstops are much harder to come by. Among shortstops this year Segura's in the top 5 of OBP, R, RBI and SB (TB isn't listed in fangraphs but I imagine same goes for that stat). Among OF, Trout is 7th and 15th in some of those categories. You might get similar value from Shin-Soo Choo in centerfield.

Btw, all bickering aside, it's funny how a700 can't see how strongly you agree with his argument because he assumes you're a past poster he had a problem with. That's how the bickering with me started. He just goes balls-to-the-walls instead of checking out if it's actually who he thinks. Genius.

It also depends on whether the league specifies CF or has just 3 OF positions, because then the CF part is even more meaningless.

I'm in a league with LF, CF, RF, OF and a utility spot and I always have too many outfielders. Guys like Nate McLouth, Gerardo Parra, etc. are always popping up. I seriously doubt a shortstop will be available on the waiver wire that can compare to the production that Segura will provide. With Tulo and Reyes missing a lot of time this year, Segura will probably be the most valuable shortstop in fantasy baseball this year.

You're the classic internet tough guy. Meaning you're a big bully and a coward. Go away.
Really. You call me a cheater and say that my team is still not a threat, but when a wager is proposed to make things interesting, you ran and hid. You should have hid. My team was cleaning your clock all week. You are lucky that my closers s*** themsleves on Saturday or you would have won only a single category. In Fantasy leagues that is called trash talk or smack talk. I would have thought you would have heard of it especially since you are such a big time fantasy sportswriter. Anyway, you can probably get something over the counter for your burning rectum. I'm not sure there is anything over the counter for your anger issues.

It doesn't matter to me who he is. The only reason I am viewing your posts today is to talk some trash to you today. Your sports posts hold zero interest for me. ;)

I could not disagree more. While i think Segura's a good player, i think his OBP and therefore his SB will fall off a cliff because of his lack of plate discipline. He WILL slump eventually.

We can agree to disagree and wait and see what happens.

By the way, Jean Segura is a really, really, really good player. His bat speed is off the charts, prospect guys have been in love with him for a while.

You bet.

Dipre is lucky that he wanted no part of a side wager. Since the trade that he bitterly opposed as one-sided and unfair, me and iortriz have improved from 6th and 7 in the standings to 3rd and 4th. The trade has helped both teams. The trade with Pal for David Ortiz is the trade that really gave my offense a shot in the arm.

Jean Segura is OBPing .423 last 7 days. Can't complain at all.

I already had Jones, Harper, Bruce, Jennings and Granderson, a pretty solid squad of OFs IMO, -- and reason why among others (needed a SS badly) I traded Trout. Sandoval is coming off of DL tonight. Harper and Granderson are coming too soon. My pitching staff has improved a lot -- Kendrick has helped me with Qs and ERA. The piece that was missing was a SS and now with Segura on my side, I feel my team very rounded going forward.

In fact, both teams as you said have improved a lot.

Good luck this week Ted :)

I need a SP and/or closer. I have 3 decent Cs, McCaan, Rosario and Salty If someone is interested, let me know.

Kyle Kendrick had another QS last night-- 8 innings, 2 runs, 2 BB, 6k's. That's his 12 th QS- not bad for a bum. The major league lead in QS is 14.

Speaking of waiver wire pickups, Dominic Brown wasn't a bad waiver wire pick up.

Great pickup. Did you do your independent homework, or some "guru" advice ?

I got some advice from U.N.'s Fantasy Sports column and did the opposite.;)

Funny, since the last time i wrote on Trout i asked people to sell high, and iortiz listened, and i own Domonic Brown in two different leagues and also advised people to pick him up, and you listened. Shows how much you know.

So, your post should say: "I followed UN's awesome fantasy advice and now my team doesn't suck floppy donkey balls. He helped iortiz too. Awesome!"

^Look at the edit. I mistakenly hit submit mid-post somehow.

By the way, talking about great pickups, you should have kept Yasiel Puig for yourself
