The deal is that you are getting the best player in the game for two waiver wire pickups who went undrafted. Justify it all you want. And sure, I'd take that bet-- assuming we're not including previously accrued fantasy points.

You're gonna make a poor old guy cash out a social security check to cover a bet he made that he probably won't remember due to his old man syndrome?

Iortiz, these guys are just sore that I had the good fortune of scooping up one oft the best players in the league off the waiver wire. So, they have to denigrate the guy's talent and achievements as he is tearing up the league. You need pitching and your SS isn't very good either. It is a completely fair trade, but they are in a snit that I picked up both guys on the waiver wire. Let them veto the trade. The proof that the trade was fair will be that Pal will be tracking Segura's and Trout's fantasy point totals every week and it will be close. If Trout wins but doesn't win by a blow out, I don't know how they have any argument as SS is a high premium position.

I probably should listen to the better judgement of Ital-- no sense in taking advantage of your shuffleboard money. How about we up the stakes? I know you already have a few sig bets running, so how about a month-long avatar bet?

No, you are not getting what I am saying. You rarely do. I am not saying that Segura is the better player than Trout. That's not my point. My point is that he is a really good player. He is my top offensive player and he plays a premium position. Pairing him with a good pitcher and meeting 2 needs of the other team in return for Trout would not disrupt the competitive balance of the league. I made the offer of the bet to keep this issue out there with a light on it. I think the outcome will be close, and I think Segura will be the top fantasy player at his position when the year ends, and that will show that the trade would not have disrupted league balance, except to the extent that it would have improved my team and iortiz's team. That is what a trade is supposed to do.

But no, there will be no sig bet. I only make a sig bet when it is a sure thing. Do you agree to the metrics beginning on Monday?

Prediction:

Jean Segura will be hitting under .300 with an OBP in the .340 range by the end of June. By that time, Trout will have eclipsed him in every offensive category.

By the end of June, Kyle Kendrick will have an ERA above 3.50, a WHIP above 1.30, and a K/9 below 7.

Taking all bets.

Are we on for the $20? Essentially, we are just wagering the entry fee for the league. The winner plays for free.

The way I saw the thing was that I have several OFs who could back him up very well... plus the SS and pitching I was trying upgrade that you just mentioned.

In the end what matters is whata player can bring to the table through the season beyond whether he was got via waivers, draft, trade or whatever.

How about $10? The chain is far less likely to notice that kind of money if Trout suddenly gets hit by a bus.

I could care less. I've still got a way better team than a700 or iortiz. I just thought it's not cool for him to shaft his "friend". But hey, you have to step on others to climb up the ladder to success, even if they are "friends".

My friend knew that he could cancel the trade at any time. If he wants to reverse the trade, i would gladly do so. He and i this year and last year have been neck and neck in the standings. He is a very good Fantasy manager and a very smart guy, so why would he let me take advantage of him with a lopsided trade? You are just ridiculous.

I feel like a700 wanted to get the trade processed to stick it to UN more than because he liked Trout and wanted him on his fantasy team. :)

Not really. iortiz and I have been negotiating a trade for some time. This is what we came up with. The fact that it pissed off UN just added to the fun.

The trade with Pal for Papi will help my team more than the alleged lopsided trade, because it will give my team more balance. My top 3 hitters are CarGo, Papi and Trout. On the pitching side, I have Verlander, Harvey, Lee, and Greinke. Closers are Kimbrel and Chapman. I'll ride with that.

Jean Segura and Kyle Kendrick for Mike Trout? No offense, but regardless of how "smart" he is, he's still a newbie to this fantasy thing, and you're taking advantage.

Case in point, i write for a fantasy website and i asked the other writers what they thought of the trade: Three of them asked if i was serious, and two were surprised the trade wasn't vetoed. Not only are you the ridiculous one here, you're dishonest and a borderline cheat.

Yeah i'm so pissed off riding the wave of my first-place, probably champion team. Even better, you weakened iortiz' team just in time for our matchup. ;)

You are such an angry bitter person.

Find one or two more people to f*** over in trades like you did iortiz and you may even be able to beat my team head-to-head.
Side wager when we go head to head?

I'm actually a happy camper with my awesome fantasy team. I just don't like to see the man step on the little guy.

People have expressed their opinions. I offered to rescind the trade. I offered alternative trades if the trade got vetoed or if he wanted to rescind the trade. My offers still stand. My friend knows that I will not bear ill will against him if we rescind and go forth with the alternative. So, how am I taking advantage of anyone? Under the alternative, I get to keep Segura and I would get Trout.
