I was reading something wrong.

I am not dead set against him, I just rather have Swisher...........trading Ellsbury to put Victorino in CF would make me happy.

You cannot compare Victorino to Cameron. Cameron had nothing left when he showed here...NOTHING.

There is a point there but just not as extreme as using Cameron as an example by any means. That is one of the concerns with Victorino...both losing physical skills and mental focus at a rate that belies his age.

I would more likely believe that the Sox are going to try to package up Ells and move him putting Victorino either in RF or in CF depending on who else they get. That makes this deal make perfect sense. I wonder if they are going to do that if they try to grab up the next OF before packaging up Ells with somebody or if they do that deal first. However I believe that is likely behind this deal. Ells and Salty or Ells Salty and somebody is something we have talked about here. I would even think that a good play here in his last off season before Ells runs into some player that looks like a brick wall again.

Not sure Victorino takes the Sox out of the Swisher running.

Like you said, Cafardo posted that the Sox want a LH 1B who has flexibility.

With Swisher, you have more flexibility than I've seen in a very long time.

Swisher, Napoli, Lavarnway/Ross, Gomes, Kalish, and Victorino would all be moving parts that you could use to give the best matchup.

And vs LHP, this team is going to be scary, scary good.

Actually, I'd like to see Jerry Sands get a shot at 1B/OF.

Guy has some pretty damn good power.

You have to realize that Sands played in a heavy hitters ballpark in AAA Alburquerque. His numbers deflated once called up.

The AL East is a pretty heavy hitters division, too, in terms of ballparks.

Much more than the NL West, to be certain.

According to Gordon Edes Cliff Lee was/is on the Sox wishlist. There have been talks about a Justin Upton for Lee swap but there is speculation he could be traded to Boston for Ells and a prospect of somesort. This would be the type of pitcher the sox desperately need.

Cliff Lee scares me a bit with his age... Anyone else feel this way?

Ugggg I'm not sure I like that. Lee has a ton of money left for 3 years and a huge 12.5M buyout for the 4th year. If Phillie isn't eating enough to make it about 18M a season, pass.

LOL, this is starting to become a trend.

The Red Sox are interested in corner infielder Eric Chavez, reports WEEI's Alex Speier. Chavez could add balance to Boston's lineup and fit GM Ben Cherington's stated need: a versatile, left-handed hitting first baseman. But as Speier notes, Chavez could potentially find more playing time with the Yankees

Could be the LHH at 1B. But with Arod on the shelf he's likely to get way more PT in NY

Rival officials believe that the Red Sox are laying the groundwork for a trade of Jacoby Ellsbury, for the pitching they need.

Things are starting to heat up, all of a sudden Ben's master plan is becoming clearer. I think they trade Ellsbury and go hard after Hamilton.

Could very, very well be the case.

Can you imagine. Ellsbury + Bradley for Lee.

Sign Hamilton at 4/100.

This team would be insane.

I do not think it would make sense for the sox to send both bradley and ellsbury for lee considering that Bradley is presumably ells replacement waiting in the minors if Victorino falters

It'd be a dumb trade though. Why dump all your best CF's for a Lee rental?

Exchange Bradley with Brentz and it makes more sense.

Lee at 3 possibly 4 years is hardly a rental.

$27.5M for a 38 year old pitcher is a horrible team option in 2016.
