Now that Victorino is signed....

Package Ellsbury/Kalish and Salty together and get an arm back.

They might be able to get Floyd just with Salty. Ellsbury will be part of a separate deal IMO. If the keep him they can put Gomes 5 feet off the line in LF and swing Ellsbury and Victorino around to cover the rest

....Redsox asking the Miami Marlins about Yunel Escobar.

I can't see them doing this after bringing in all the "good" clubhouse guys. Maybe they want to flip him somewhere. Seattle was rumored to be in on him. Ellsbury+Escobar++ is interesting package.

Man, the booze must really flow at these meetings.

"Jack Daniels" official sponsor of the 2012 MLB Winter Meetings... :D

Salty wont get Floyd. That would be too easy.

It's too easy cause it makes sense. White Sox need Catching. They have an extra SP that has one year left. Trades don't have to be complicated :D

According to the article on MLBTR:

Victorino "fits the profile that the team seeks of an above-average defensive outfielder capable of playing both right and center at Fenway Park."

Maybe they are looking to move Ellsbury..

I like it, they need to clean house.

They should have done this last offseason. Thank god there was a team out there as dumb as the Dodgers.

Victorino could move to CF whenever they trade Ellsbury, whether it's now or later in the season.

Lately it seems they have been asking everyone about everything. No way this happens.

Maybe they'll surprise everyone and sign Swisher to play RF, flip Ellsbury and Salty + a PTBNL for an arm, then move Vic to center.

I'm actually surprised it's taken this long for it to get out that they're interested in Escobar.

With guys like Pedroia, Napoli, Victorino, Ross, and Ortiz, all guys who are leaders, who are great clubhouse guys, and who are guys who will call you out, it seems like they can afford to take a risk on Escobar, a guy who is pretty talented (despite his down year in 2012), but just has the clubhouse issues.

He's certainly a guy who can hit you .280/.355/415, especially with some boosted offense at Fenway Park (career .320/.347/.426 hitter at Fenway over 100 PA).

If the Sox can get him for fairly cheap, I'd pull the trigger on that.

I'll tell you what I like about these moves so far.

Cherrington is just going out and getting a bunch of highly talented guys.

He's building a team. Not a bunch of overpaid assclowns who are arrogant. He's getting a bunch of guys who will mesh and get along.

It's like the 2012 A's, except with more talent.

Cherington said he would like to add a leftanded hitting 1B who woud be versatile.

Swisher?

He's the only FA that fits that description. But I'm not sure I see it. Unless Ellsbury is being traded now, Victrino in CF and Swisher in RF occasionally at 1B.

I called it earlier, just remember that! haha

Victorino is ours now whether we like it or not......I don't care that much for it because I thought we could have done better. I saw him on TV a lot out here in LA and he looked like he was fading badly. Maybe he needed a new venue and a new challenge. He was a solid player before t he 2012 season. He can field and run and was a good hitter until this year as well as a good clubhouse man. I just hope he doesn't turn out to be another Mike Cameron because that guy was plain s*****.

If we're also trying to clean up the clubhouse why on earth would we want this POS. He is a total turd with a miserable attitude. Don't g o there Cherington. Stay far away from this guy.

In case you or anyone else missed it:

Player A's career .255/ .336/ .422 /.758

Player B's career .275/ .341/ .430/ .771

Player C's career .272/ .339/ .365/ .704

Player D's career .281/ .333/ .424/ .757

A= Upton. B = Victorino. C= Bourn. D=Pagan.

The Mike Cameron comparison is silly. Victorino just turned 32. Mike Cameron was 37.

Is it really? Take age out of it. Look at Victorino's regression over the last couple of years.

Look at progressions. Upton and Victorino have regressed. Bourn has improved.

His career year was 2011. Having one bad year isn't regressing for a couple of years.

What are you talking about??

He had his best career year in 2011! In terms of OPS and WAR

Maybe you have the players mixed up? Bourn regresses from 2009 through 2011, and then pops up for a contract year.
