You either like all boston sports or you're NOTHING. NOTHING I SAY
The Patriots are a bull s*** AFL team that got merged into the real league. They played at colleges when they started and didn't have a their own stadium. They were the biggest joke in the sport for too many years for me to think of as anything other than a team from the inferior upstart league.

They have been to 5 SB since 2002 and won 3 of them.

Patriots all day suckas.

Watered down expansion garbage.;)
and that's who they beat-- watered down expansion garbage except for the Eagles. When they play original NFL teams like the Bears and the Giants, they lose, because they come from an inferior league.

Has anybody here ever seen the movie 'Big Fan'? I highly recommend it. It's a hilarious black comedy about an incredibly fanatical New York Giants fan and Eagles hater who has a momentous encounter with his favorite player. Michael Rapaport plays an Eagles fan who is so over-the-top obnoxious that...well, you just have to see it.

...he's almost like a real Eagles fan?

I didn't know much about the Giants-Eagles rivalry till I saw this movie but it was an eye-opener. And my guess is Rapaport completely nailed the 'real Eagles fan'.

Thanks for all the support folks. Yeah, I guess it is kinda weird that a guy from the deep south adopted Boston/Philly teams, but it's one of those things where everyone understands and accepts that real pro sports are played in the north (baseball, football, basketball, hockey etc.). Plus the south is FAR and away more crazy about college athletics. Next point--GEAUX TIGERS!!!

I'm pretty sure it was the pats that took down the greatest show on turf in 2001.

It depends to me, I have a cousin who started liking the saints ( after they won the super bowl ) and his reasoning was because Reggie bush was his favorite player.... Funny thing is, the dolphins aren't his NEW favorite team..... Oh and I've seen him calling st Louis " his cardinals " on Facebook .... I have a problem with it if your " favorite " teams are from 4 different cities and have all won championships in the last couple yrs.... I give it 2 months before he's riding the heats nuts also

I see no problem with it, I moved around a lot as a kid (my dad was military) and as an adult (also military) so I never had a city to affiliate with. My Dad is diehard Boston everything which is why I am a Red Sox fan. I'm also a Detroit Red Wings, 49ers, and 76ers fan. I spent the most time near Philly and in Florida but I hate Tampa teams and most Philly teams. I do tend to root for all Boston teams in the playoffs if they aren't playing my teams.

The Rams? They were a transplanted franchise-- still not an original franchise.

Does it matter?
To me it does. The history means something. The original franchises are the NFL. Everyone else is expansion. The same goes for baseball. The Mets are 50 years old this season, but they are still watered down expansion to me. The Patriots were for many years the koke of an upstart league. Total laughing stocks. Less interesting than the Saints. I could never root for them.

I think it would have been weird for me not having the Pats as my favorite team while I also root for all the other Boston sports teams even BC and the Cannons!

They were such a horrible team that neither Boston nor the state of Massachusetts wanted to be associated with them.

This completely depends on where you're from and where you live. If you live halfway across the country and you've adopted 1 or 2 teams from a specific city, then no its not weird to root for another city's teams in some other sport. Maybe I'll give you a pass if you lived in Boston until you went to college or something and never really liked basketball or Football. Then it's probably semi-normal to stick with most Boston teams but root for the team from wherever you end up in that other sport.

But yea its batshit crazy if you're from Boston and grew up in Boston and spent any part of your adult life in Boston to cheer for the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and Cowboys or something.

And now they're indisputably the team of the 2000's, at least so far with a HOF coach and a QB who is at least top 3 all time.

And there's that one kid in high school who roots for the Yankees, Lakers, Cowboys and Red Wings because f*** him.

EDIT: Also he loves Duke.

wow what a lucky guy all of his teams have multiple titles! <_>

Without trying to sound like a homer, as far as HC/QB duo, they are the greatest ever..... and i also think the only qb ahead of brady at this time is montana, but by the time brady is done- it'll be without question who is #1

Oh I agree with you all the way. Those two top that list. TB is the greatest QB of all time without question, some people just haven't had their eyes opened yet and I put the top 3 in there for them. But TB and BB aren't done yet. I think we have another championship or two still left to celebrate before theyre done.

Now this will sound "homerish" , but i'm thinking 19-0 this yr....16-3 last yr, and we got better on both sides of the ball WITH a cakewalk for a schedule

I've been thinking it. I just don't wanna say it.

Hell Deep Southerner, I would have been run off this board lickity split if there was no tolerance for fans who didn't follow a strict Boston fandom line. In basketball alone I could hear my colleagues coming after me with a rifle or a rope. I am an ardent and passionate Lakers fan and try running that by most fans of the Celtics around here. In Hockey I root for the Anaheim Ducks (no, not the Kings). In football I'm a Raiders fan and last time I checked I'm still alive. Baseball was the easiest for me since I became a Red Sox fan that August day in 2000. For decades I didn't even have a team after the Dodgers left Brooklyn, and I could never root for the LA version. I tried once and wound up hating them more. The Angels are my wife's team and I feel nothing for them. I do think, though, that if you root for a team in each sport there is always one team that shines above the rest. Proud to say for me it is the Red Sox.
