How many more 8th inning holds would Aceves have saved that Padilla didn't?

How many more 7th inning holds would Padilla have saved that Atchison didn't?

Good point.

Crawford and Ellsbury will be back very soon, too. I still am not backing off of my pre-season prediction of 95 wins or more.

Bailey's loss was really the only significant injury to a pitcher we have had all year. The pitching is, essentially, the staff we had hoped to field-with a few stints on the DL. They never expected DiceK back until mid June anyway, and Lackey was known to be out all year too. I don't think we have had a more serious problem with injuries to pitchers than other clubs. Hell, the Yankees lost Pineda AND Mariano.

That is a different argument.

Not at all. You were entirely correct in your post. All the pitchers move down one inning if Bailey is around. My point was that Aceves has been a very serviceable closer, probably just as good as Bailey would have been. Of course, if he is closing, he isn't available to pitch when he usually pitches.

He goes by "M. Vicente Padilla" for that reason.

Nicaraguan Nightmare wasn't bad either.

Props to Dice K' date=' Salty, Kalish, Pedey, Gonzo. Props to Valentine for all the right pitching and pinch hitting moves.[/quote']

Just like Tito would have done, right? ;)

Rays are now 3 outs away from being only 1 game ahead of the Red Sox in the East.
According to our homer announcers on Extra Innings, we are playing for the wild card.

Great win. Laughable they couldn't hit Laffey. Another junkballing turd they can't hit.

Umm??? A win is a win ? And the jays ( a pretty potent offense ) only scored 1 run with dicek on the mound?

We are still in the race for first place, even though Jacko said that the Yankees are "starting to run away with it". They will hit the skids at some point too.

Yeah. They're 23-7 in their last 30.

Sorry Jacko. That's not going to continue pal.

Does anyone know if Dice-K warmed up a little longer before this start? Seems like he settled down much faster tonight.

The Rays have essentially lost too. Now down 8-2 in the ninth. We will be one behind the Rays and two behind the Orioles and Angels for the WC top spot.

Dice-K owns the Jays. Sox won all his starts but 1 against the Jays, in a 2-1 loss.
