Hell no we're not going under .500 again. Best believe the Orioles are about to get wrecked tonight.

Orioles(32-24) vs Red Sox(28-28)

Clay Buchholz 5-2 6.58 ERA

Vs

Brian Matusz 5-5 4.41 ERA

I hate the Orioles and Showalter even more. f***ing win or don't even show up.

Prediction: Red Sox 7, Orioles 3

Buchholz has been pitching well of late, and our offense is due for some runs. Matusz isn't that good. More importantly, I think the players are going to start to feel a sense of urgency to start winning again.

BTW: GO CELTICS!

I'd like an accounting on the win-loss record of posters making game threads. We need to know who is sucking and keep them away from making GT's.;)

Matusz has been on a roll since dominating you guys. He's put up 3 quality starts striking out 21 in 19.1IP. The guy has good stuff

Then he is due to lay an egg. He is no superstar.

Two lefties in a row with Matuza tonight. I agree with the radio guys suggesting AGons should sit tonight.

Also suggesting that he has gotten stubborn about this early swings thing. I rarely agree with what these radio guys have to say but I have been saying the same thing for weeks now. So for once I agree.

Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs. Bush. Hopefully, you can celebrate with a win.

Cheers guys. It's our third. Not been the best day, had to work and she went to pay final respects to her friend who died at the weekend sadly.

Will crack open a bottle of red and watch a bit tonight. Need to get back on track swiftly before we fall too far behind again, not that I'm expecting a world series appearance this year.

Well I guess AGons is not the only guy that is going to be stubborn about his recent performance because there is no way you can sit him in the next game the Sox have to play after tonight's game, against the next LH pitcher they have to face. Not a good idea V.

This would have been a good game to sit Agons for a whole bunch of reasons, not the least of which is that AGons needs to learn that playing stupid baseball is not the best way out of a slump by a long shot.

The last couple of games have been rough for Pedroia. He was out for a week and is finally starting to get back into the swing of things. I didn't expect much from him in his first couple of games back, especially since he has to get used to that brace. Tonight I am looking for him to have a good game offensively and help lead this team to a W.

He's just trying too hard, he'll get his timing back and it would be nice if it happens tonight!

I think it is Pedey's timing way more than trying to hard....which is not to say that he is not trying. However I am not sure what else we would have expected when the guy sits right down, can't really do much of anything and is then right back in the lineup.

Pedey had to be brought back ASAP. but it would likely have been total luck for Pedey not to have skipped a beat.

Actually playing is the best way to get out of your slump. You hit out of slumps. You don't just sit out a game and then suddenly are better

Who is saying Agons will make a night of and "suddenly feel better". His feeling better has nothing to do with it.

Major league managers seem to think a day off can sometimes be beneficial to a guy in a major slump. Even the mighty Pujols got one this year. And he did come out of the slump after that.

First 27 games Pujols had a .505 OPS, 0 HR and 5 RBI. After a day off, in the 30 games since, .900 OPS, 8 HR and 26 RBI.

Sometimes a day off is needed. I have not heard that Gonzalez is injured, so I am assuming a lot of this is psychological. If he gets a day off, he will start to think about what it is like not to start and how much it sucks. It is not guaranteed that it will transform him into one of the best hitters in the game, but it will make him realize that he better get his s*** together. It is quite obvious that he is in a slump. He knows it. We do not need him to be a 40 HR hitter (although it would be nice). We just need him to hit the way he can. He needs to play smarter. He needs to take more pitches and be more patient at the plate.

AdGon needs a couple days off for mental health. The Yankees did it with Teixeira and blamed it on a cold. After those two days off' date=' he's hitting .333 with 5 bombs in 14 games.[/quote']

Might as well.

Yeah if it were that easy. There been DAYS off between games.

Well, it's not like he hasn't had a day off. He had Monday off, like the rest of the guys. I'm not sure how that would be any different than taking a day off when they have a game.

Well, do you want Gonzo to get out of his slump or do you just want to sit him? The more games he doesn't play, the more games it will be until he is back to normal.

The good thing is that, with him, he could bust out of it at any minute and just go on a complete tear.

I don't think he is likely to go on a tear if he just stays in the lineup and maintains what appears to be a pretty stubborn attitude about his approach to his plate appearances. He appears to have grown stubborn about taking a day in an effort to press the reset button as well and that as much as anything makes me think a day off especially against another LH pitcher would do him some good.

It appears that he has been absolutely stubborn and insistent about what he is doing. I would be fine with that if it were not for the result is the aforementioned stupid baseball. Swinging at first pitches is not smart...swinging at them as much as he does is doubly not smart. Looking to go the other way so much that every tom dick and harry on the planet knows it and can pitch him so that he can be set up is not smart either. Although, you hardly have to set him up if he is going to continue to be hackin' from the on deck circle.

Now although you have to take what comes to us from the media with a grain of salt, there are reports that he has also grown stubborn about the idea of just taking a day against a LH hitter to press the reset button. He is a team member and Adrian doing everything Adrian's way is A) not work and B) not what you would expect from a team member.

I would sit him for a day for a number of reasons not the least of which would relate to this stubbornness that appears to be rearing its ugly head. Adrian is not the Manager.....
