This game should've been the capper to a sweep but we won and got back over .500. We always play well in interleague so let's hunker down and really get on a roll in these next few series. This series sucked and we lost to an inferior team but them's the breaks and we need to move on and take the Washington set. They have great pitching but I think we can take at least 2 games.

No, we lost to a superior team. Check the standings.

I like the gonzo has dropped in the order too. hopefully he'll have a multi hit game in that spot tomorrow.

the Red Sox have won each of the last six games in which Gonzalez has posted multi-hit performances

It ain't that black and white, pumps.

The orioles will be out of it by sometime in the next two months.

In part the reason AGons should take a pitch early in the count and especially early in the game is to see how a pitcher is going to come after him. Matusz showed him early in the count he was going to try to pound him inside which is no way to try to get him out. I guess Matusz tried it cause he is one of the few LH pitchers this year that Agons has pounded. Once AGons saw that Matusz was going to try to just throw him balls on the inner half, Matusz was toast tonight as well.

Agons will see more LH pitchers trying to get him out the way they have gotten him out the last few weeks mainly because it has for the most part worked but also because when he does hit it tends to be a single or at most a double. He no longer seems to drive the ball to left with enough authority to clear the wall.

Even with the quality of tonight's LH pitcher I doubt you will see him try to do what Matusz tried. You have to go outside first with Agons even if you intend coming inside to get him out.

Friday, June 8th (after going 1-3 in last 4): Red Sox 3 games out of 1st place

We are in no worse shape than we were after the loss on Sunday.

That doesn't happen very often. Take advantage of that.

All I am saying is that right now the Orioles are a superior team, based on their record. Your team is exactly as good as your record says you are. Who knows if the Orioles will fail this year? They might; they might not. They said that about the Rays the first year they became competitive; and the next year; and the year after that.

When you play 162 games a year. Record isn't as great of an indicator. Talent wise, the orioles just flat out aren't that good. They're a mediocre team that is taking advantage of the early devastation of the rest of the division by injuries. I see absolutely nothing on that team, not one thing whatsoever, that points to them a being a contender. They're a cute story but logic dictates that those annoying little shits will have their noses up our asses come September.

I agree; they will probably fall back to earth.

That said, RIGHT NOW they are playing better baseball than we are. I try not to deal with what MIGHT happen since I cannot predict the future, no matter how hard I try to do so. I firmly believe that the current strength of a team is measured exactly by their record.
