Sox are getting f***ed hard by the umps tonight' date=' not that it makes a difference[/quote']No, we are being outplayed in every aspect of the game tonight.

By the angle that YES showed he was out. Pedroia didn't touch the bag till his left hand reached the top right corner of the bag' date=' allowing CC to beat him there.[/quote']

That was my initial reaction. With a microscope, you are right. To the human eye, it was a tie, and Hernandez didn't have the angle to see the side/front issue you are talking about. He got it right, by luck. But the theatrics were there, which in many cases, seems to be the most important part to MLB umps.

Every single ball is hit to A-Rod.

I'm calling it now. Sometime this season pics of A-Rod playing with twinks will be on TMZ.

Yeah, the point of my post wasn't to correct you. I just wanted to voice what they showed on YES (because I figured most people aren't watching on YES), and I quoted your post just because it was on topic.

As for the reason why he made the call, I'm not sure we should bash the umpires based on a belief that is nothing more than conjecture.

1 of 4 innings so far the Red Sox have sent more than 3 people to the plate

2 of 4 Innings so far the Yankees have sent more than 3 people to the plate.

This isn't a courtroom. I know what I see, and many other fans see the same thing and are tired of it. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt when they start acting professionally. Right now, they look like a bunch of set extras trying inject themselves into the screenplay.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. What I see is a group of umpires, as a whole, who don't do a very good job, and a sport that needs instant replay. In my opinion, the reason why they do a poor job is impossible to tell.

I just installed the MLB.tv plugin that allows HD video' date=' interested to see what the quality is like.[/quote']

Is that the NexDef thing? Not yet compatible for Windows 7, strangely... which means that I can't get the DVR functionality...

And XP. Just got rid of my old computer to buy a laptop, which has Windows 7. Bummer, because with the DVR functionality I'd be able to pause games when it gets really late and watch the re-runs in the morning... hang on, it is the morning. ;)

Tonight is an easy time to say it with the way Beckett pitched and it's just Game 1, but I just consider Lester the ace. Beckett would probably be considered a 1a... but bottom line, Beckett has had one truely great year in a Red Sox uniform. 2007 of course.

Contract guy needs to get back to glory in 2010. These past two playoffs with him have been filled with a mix of injury and suck. Not that the two are unrelated.

You don't see them making many of the wrong calls when they have an opportunity to grandstand? What are you watching?

Called third strikes with the bases loaded and a full count are exciting. Even umps with tight strikezones have a tendancy to expand it when they can showboat with their punchout. Double plays are exciting, particularly ones on an infield lineout, like what happened in this game. They often do their job poorly in these instances because they can't resist the temptation to put on a show. If I'm wrong, you'd see less grandstanding during these calls, but you never do. It's alway theatrical. If that isn't a desire to be a part of the show, I don't know what it is.
