Hey folks,
Just thought I'd introduce myself... my name's Colo and I'm a Red Sox fan from Norwich in the UK. I've just bought MLB.tv for the first time, so there will be lots of late nights for me in the next few months (it's gone 2am here and we're only just through the third)!
I've been following the Sox since 2004... my grandma was a lifelong Sox fan from Massachusetts, and told me all about the Curse of the Bambino when I was younger, but I never really paid much attention to baseball. She told me during the 2004 season that the Sox were going to break the curse that year, but sadly she passed away just before the end of the regular season.
I suddenly found myself watching the postseason even though I didn't really understand all the rules, but after finding a couple of other Sox fans in my town I began to watch them more regularly, and after seeing the comeback from 3-0 down against the Yanks in the ALCS, I had a gut feeling that my Grandma was right and we would go on to break the curse. I'm not ashamed to say there were more than a few tears after Game 4; so much joy for my new heroes, but a tinge of sadness that my grandma couldn't have been around to see the Sox as world champions (she was two years old in 1918!).
I thought I'd sign up on here to try to learn more about the game and chat to fellow Sox fans... for a Brit I guess I know quite a lot about baseball, but when I chat to Americans it makes me realise how little I really know!
Hopefully one day I will fulfil my dream of sitting on top of the Green Monster for a Sox-Yankees game... until then, I'll have to make do with my MLB mosaic and lots of lonely late nights with my laptop!
