The best part is Dice-K laughing cause you know he doesn't have a damn clue what the kid is saying or even referencing.

I definitely think Dice-K knows his English. Most Japanese players do, they just act like they don't most of the time so they don't have to talk to the American media.

Now, as for the reference, no way he knows what's going on there.

Exactly, even if he knows most of the words the kid said, it's COMPLETELY random if he has no idea who Herb Brooks is or the speech.

I maintain he's laughing cause it's a cute kid wearing a suit yelling "screw the Yankees"

Oh yeah, definitely. I thought his reaction was the funniest part by far.

I wouldn't count on him knowing much about Herb Brooks though. I don't think hockey is that big in Japan, but I could be wrong...

This is why I hate early season Yankee games. We shouldn't be wasting Yankee games on the first week of the season when players are still kinda trying out for the team on both sides' date=' let things shake out at least a bit and then bring on the greatest rivalry in sports.[/quote']

I'd rather get them out of the way now, less trolling and other useless rivalry-related ******** going on later.

Between all 18 Red Sox/Yankees games, there's more than enough times they'll face each other when both teams are well-seasoned. If anything, it's nice to see them play now before injuries hit both teams.

I agree. We play them 5 times in May, 4 times in August and 6 times in Sept/Oct, ending our season with them in Fenway. Pretty good balance IMO. Anyone notice how short the All Star Break is this year, only 3 days off.
