Let's see how Dice-K does in his next start. If he's sharp, then they have four solid starters. That will take the pressure off needing Wake next year. They can use that 5th slot to develop Tazawa or Bowden.

Hes got some real issues in his spine, just hearing him discuss the injury makes me sore.

Inflammated nerves, disks out of whack, vertebrae chips, etc...As much as i love the 175-200IP he used to give us I dont see him ever approaching that figure again and lets face it, we'd all have strokes watching wakefield come into the game from the bullpen cause nobody can throw up crooked #s as fast as Wakefield can when hes off.

I love the guy but its time to put the glove down and pick up a golf club if he can

It's time to put this chapter behind us and to bring back Pedro to round out next year's rotation.

Fukin petey is 5-0 and is hitting the low 90s again and of course Brad Penny is 3-0 with an era under 2 and Joelle Piniero has 16 wins this year and Smoltz has an era of 3.77 in StLouis.

I dont see any of these guys ever making it in the Al, all of them got beaten like a cranky wife after the superbowl while in the American League.

So let get this straight - you love the guy who has missed most of the 2nd half each of the last four seasons due to injury yet you rail on the guy who missed ONE 2nd half with the same injury during the same year he carried the offense in June. Nice consistency.

Your opinion about Pedro might change if he takes an AL team to school in the World Series this year. Pedro was still successful in the AL when he wasn't regularly hitting 91 on the gun. There's no reason to believe that he wouldn't be successful in the AL with what he has now. He's certainly good enough to be a #5. We paid $10.5 million on busted #5's this year. I am pretty sure that Pedro would take a $5 million guarantee next season. Have any of our pitchers thrown 130 pitches in a game this season?

That's more up to the manager and organization than it is the ability of the player...

I feel much better about bringing wake back, for the record, now that VMart has handled him a couple times and found himself up to the task.

I'd be on board for bringing Pedro back next season. It would be worth a shot. He has looked very good so far in Philly. But Philly is in the NL. Although Phillies home field is a ban box so to speak.

If it doesn't work out cut him and let him go back to the NL.

Pedro also started pitching in August. How's he gonna look next August if the Sox sign him and have him on the opening day roster?

I am sure that we will get more from him than the 8 lousy games we got from Smoltzy.

He's also a year older and hasn't been able to stand up to the rigors of a fulltime starter's schedule for 4 years now.

I think that bringing him back and watching him get bombed would be so sad that t's not worth the risk. Unless he wanted to pitch out of the pen. That might be fun.

That's because in 2006 his arm was hanging by a thread, and 2007 and 2008 he had and was recovering from surgery. Now he is recovered, and he looks stronger and more consistent with his velocity since probably 2003.

Yes' date=' because Lenny DiNardo is pitching for the Royals.[/quote']

Good point.

So let me change the question...

Is Wake going to give up fewer than 5 runs tomorrow?

Posted
The last time Leonard started a game against us it was the most embarrassing 6 shutout innings I ever watched.

I have a feeling that that is not going to happen tomorrow.

Posted
ill always remember Lenny DiNardo as being the starter for the Sox the day I drove to and from Toronto in one day (12 hour round-trip drive) to see them play the Jays. He s*** the bed, they lost 8-1 or something and we left in the 7th inning.

100% this is not what happens.

Your probably right, I just voted what I wanted to happen. I don't want to see him come back, but I have that feeling he's not finished yet. If Theo were smart, he'd let him go if he had the chance.

If Theo were smart, he'd exercise the option and have him come back at the 2nd half to provide pitching depth.

completely agree, and im not going to lie I would like to see Wake get enough starts to atleast have a shot at breaking the sox win record...
