The point is, like the Red Sox bullpen, Zellweger is passable. You aren't all that impressed, but it will do. She's not Rosie O'Donnell, that's the Braves pen last year. The Red Sox pen isn't horrible, it just doesn't compare to the Yankees pen.

I'm actually enjoying this female comparison to bullpens.

I'd like to compare this years Sox bullpen to Brittany Spears of 3 years ago.

She'e been good in places but you could see the glue coming undone. So the question is, will this years bully turn out to be shaved head Brittany or will they hold it together and resurrect their careers in the spotlight?

Britney Spears three years ago was hot. Actually, the Red Sox pen three years ago was pretty hot too...maybe more like Britney Spears of today.

Our pen pitched OK on monday, and with Papelbon as the closer its going to be a fairly solid pen this year. I think Donnley is going to be huge for us this year, and Okijima did well after that bad first pitch.

This is my prediction. I will eat crow if they do not. However, if they do, you shall all pay homage.

I figure 86 wins for the Red Sox.

So, 86-76, eh? Only took 28 games to be 10 over .500.

"Caw, caw" - Dinner is calling. Get ready.

The Yankees pitching is bad right now, we haven't seen anyone get smacked around this bad since Ike and Tina split......oh snap.......

I would have to agree. Who would've thought that Okajima would be this good thus far in the season! I think the bullpen will be better towards the end of the season when Timlin gets healthy! But as for the Yankees bullpen...look at last nights loss 15-11 to the Mariners, you can't tell me that the Yankees bullpen is better!

It is not too surprising Okajihma is pitching good, nobody has ever seen him before. that give him the advantage for first few times you face him. But that said he is pitching at a higher level then I expected and I hope he can keep it up for the whole season and the life of his contract.

Honestly I don't know how the Yankees didn't see this lack of pitching before the season started. Everyone had them as favorites in the AL East, and maybe that will still turn out to be true, but I never thought they had strong starters or a bullpen (though it was better than ours before we kenw about Okajima). Even when healthy, their starters only had 2 or maybe 3 strong, and besides that were almost always going to have to bail out the other two starters with their offense.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for the sox to finish 3rd now. The Jays season is over. I am predicting that Roger Clemens will get injured in his very first start for the Yankees and that will effectly end their season. The sox will run away with the AL East.

I know from years of experience to never count the Yankees out, that said they are digging themselves a nice hole. Clemens will give them 5 or 6 innings if he can keep his legs healthy. But here in lies the problem. Wang right now is the only pitcher in the rotation that can go 6+, but he got crushed yesterday. But 4/5 pitchers are 5-6 inning guys. The key to the Yankees season is the BP, there looking at pitching another 380 innings plus, and the way they have been pitching that could be the Achillies heal of the team.

Nobody is running away with this division. Gom and Jacko were idiots to think the Yanks would run away with it, and you are too if you think we will.

Agreed. I'm just waiting for the Yanks to go on one of their tears.

it isnt on the yankees. They have won 7 of 10 and are playing pretty well. The sox will eventually go into a dry spell, but everything is clicking for them right now. I'd say the yankees will make one of their big runs once Hughes and Clemens are back in the fold and we can start stacking a bunch of well pitched games. But if the sox have Lester back by then and are playing this well, it wont matter.

This is why we traded for Beckett, and this is why we spent 100 million dollars on Matsuzaka. When you have good power pitching, everything clicks. Sometimes the dice doesn't roll your way, but more often than not, you're firing on all cylinders. Look at what put the tigers in the mix last year? Verlander, Bonderman, and Zumaya. Beckett, Matsuzaka, Schilling and Papelbon will do much the same thing.
