Yeah, that's the thing with JT. You never know when the wheels are going to come off, but when they do, it's full blown FUBAR.

Exactly, total FUBAR! He almost got out of the inning w/ a DP, now it's 2-2.

From what I heard from Dave O'Brien, Pinero looked fantastic today. Getting Eldred on a fastball, and the next batter on a curveball that fell off the table.

As much as l personally like Taverez from meeting him last year in Yankee Stadium, this guy cannot be our closer. Nice guy or not, he has a penchant for blowing sky high and while that is not bad if he is a spot starter with a five or six run lead (under optimum conditions), it is a disaster in the making with a one of two run spread. Today was so typical, and have you noticed that he also has this maddening habit of hitting batters? We saw it all last year. Keep JT as a middle reliever; this talk about his being our closer makes me want to puke. It should make all of you feel a little queasy in the gut.

With 5 straight scoreless innings, Pinero seems to be the outright leader this point to be the closer. If he can pitch like he did today and on sunday, then I think he will be O.K. He did hold batters to a .213 avg out of the pen last season.

Tavarez inspires confidence immediately after being named the closer. Fantastic :)

Umm Tavarez wasnt named the closer. Tito just out of his whack said "if the season started tomorrow, I would favor Tavarez". Ring Ring its for you, that statement doesnt mean that he is being heralded as the opening day closer. Delusion just keeps setting in for you I see

Why do you keep responding to those taunts? He's obviously doing it to get a rise, and you keep obliging.

It's just fun to "f" w/ jacko. He was always wrong about his predictions back in the Boston Herald forum days and it was fun to remind him now. Because he's wrong about Tavarez. He doesn't understand Tito and his sense of humor, b/c Torre doesn't have one.

To me, he's always been like the pain in the ass little brother I never had....

Oh, I agree. He's easy to have fun with. I just don't think he's serious about Tavarez and is only doing it for the reactions.

And you are dead right about his predictions. He's kept telling us how badly the Lowell and Loretta acquisitions were last year stating that their poor '05 performance was the beginning of the end for them. All I can say is that I'm glad he's warning us about Romero against the Yankees because that means he's lock to be a thorn in their side this year.

He's definitely being a smart ass and not at all serious about Tavarez.

He called David Ortiz a fluke, bwahahahahaha!

my predictions actually were right about half the time. That leaves a ton of leeway on either side. But when I was wrong, jesus christmas I was WRONG. Yeah, I called Papi a fluke mid 2004 when he was coming off the best yr of his life to that point in 03 and started well in 04. WRONG. What other doozies did I have? Maybe that RJ would win 24 games. WRONG. Pavano having 17 wins. MAYBE FOR HIS YANKEE CAREER BUT WRONG. I was pretty much spot on last yr with the offensive predictions sans the injuries to Matsui and Sheff. But the one thing I havent been wrong on since I started posting was that the yankees would win the ALE. They won then and they will win now. And if you remember VA, I NEVER made a prediction about the 04 series cause I didnt have faith that they could handle the two headed monster in Schilling and Pedro.

I have a feeling when their streak ends the prediction won't.

I don't recall your predictions there. I do recall the Yankee trolls coming out of the word works when we were down 3 games to none. Then, suddenly, after we won game 7, they disappeared. You hung in and took your knocks.

Jacko, you're ok in my book because you have the ability to admit when you are wrong, something I haven't seen from a number of posters (not on this board). It does look, however, that you will make another doozy this season. This is the season that the Red Sox finally take your team to the cleaners in the AL East. Make book on it.

per rotoworld

The Red Sox are drawing interest from the Marlins and Nationals in Kyle Snyder and the Marlins and Astros in David Murphy.

It appears that the Red Sox are leaning towards keeping Snyder, but they would part with him in part of a deal for a closer. Murphy is almost certainly available for the right amount of relief help. The Astros, though, won't be giving up Chad Qualls in return for a bench player. The Marlins at least would have need of Murphy as a regular. Murphy and Snyder for Taylor Tankersley is a deal the Red Sox would likely jump at.

id take that but Tankersley isnt a closer he wasnt good in closing games in the ninth he blew like a bunch
Posted
Anuj' date=' he was given 7 chances to save. He blew 4 of them. Even so in his first season he posted a 2.85 ERA, limited batters to a .228 avg, and struck out 46 in 41 innings pitched[/quote']

oh i thought he had more opportunities my bad in that case hell yeah but what are the chances thats going to happen? Who is first inline to be the Marlin's closer?

damn beckett looks solid so far...hes really workin the change and keeping the hitters off balance. the two runs were lucky hits combined with errors

I guess this team just can't hit Oliver Perez in ST. He's got 7 Ks through 4, and he did something similar last year in ST.
