  1. dodgers get two picks and money too!
  2. that seems fair...since Bay was the brains behind the operation it definitely seems logical to boo him...good plan
  3. yeah it would be sweet to have Youk bat twice each time through the lineup
  4. I think the sox were in a position where they had to make this deal. Jason Bay is better than a Manny Ramirez who continues to take himself out of the lineup. The part of this deal I don't follow is that we had to include money, moss, and hansen, while the dodgers gave up just the two prospects and got manny. The dodgers came away with a steal in my opinion
  5. Hey everybody...as a milwaukee resident, i'm an avid brewer fan, while still staying loyal to the sox, of course, and i'm just curious what your thoughts of the brewers are? I find it hard to stay objective, and i just wanted to hear some outside opinions on the brewers outlook this year (although i doubt everyone will be objective on the gagne signing:lol: )
  6. With the roster virtually set, other than a few MRs, it seems a good time to look at the 2008 lineup for the sox. I'm just curious as to where you all would put players in the lineup. The way i see it there are two approaches Lineup 1: Pedroia Youk Papi Manny Drew/Lowell Lowell/Drew Tek Ellsbury Lugo Lineup 2: Ellsbury Pedroia/Youk Papi Manny Drew/Lowell Lowell/Drew Youk/Pedroia Tek Lugo Lineup two will probably be the more popular option, but lineup one would really allow ellsbury to utilize his speed on the paths, while we wouldnt lose any obp at the top of the order. I realize that ellsbury is the prototypical leadoff hitter, but the sox rarely run in front of papi/manny (rightly so IMO), but we would still have men on base with Dusty and Youk up top, and Ells could provide some flexibility at the bottom sort of like crisp did this year (except ellsbury will be on much more so the strategy would actually be noticeably effective). Anyways, i was just kind of mulling it over during a stats lecture and wanted to get everyone elses thoughts.
  7. Crespo, trust me, sheets rarely throws the change, in fact about as much as beckett. You are right, his curve is pretty filthy when he has it, i'll give you that. And he was really sitting at about 92 mph on the fastball all year long...once in a while he'd throw 94ish for a night when he felt good (this may be due to his shady health leading to inconsistent velocity), but more often then not this year it was down to the lower 90s. I watched more Brewer games than i did sox game this year because of my location and the fact that my internet was too slow to use mlb.tv very often, s yes i have seen him pitch. I just couldn't see him getting AL EAST hitters out very successfully next year, which is all we'd have him for (guaranteed at least). Another contention you made is that he was still injured in the second half, and i would agree...the problem is that this guy (and this is just my opinion) may have some structural issues throughout his body, and will never be truly healthy again
  8. nah i dont like it. i live in milwaukee, and sheets isnt as desirable as many think he is. i could be wrong on this, but i believe many of his peripherals went down, as well as strikeouts (i know this for sure). Plus, he would have a first AL east shellfest a la Josh Beckett because he is basically a 2 pitch pitcher, and with stuff that isnt as good as becketts (not even close with the fastball). o and not to mention the annual 5 trips to the DL...sorry if i sound bitter, sheets kind of screwed the crew this year edit: one more thing, only signed for one more year, as is santana i guess
  9. just a thought, and i doubt they'd sacrifice the d in right and at first at the same time, but against lefties francis and morales...any chance Youk plays right and papi plays first while JD sits until a pitching change is made....jd coming in for youk batting second isnt all bad
  10. i want ellsbury and cora 8/9 on sat...if we get there
