Can somebody please tell me why Riske or Delcarmen wasn't used in this situation? Tavarez is awful, plain and simple. Francona needs to stop being so stubborn when it comes to staying loyal to his veterans, and start using relievers who can get the job done.

The Twins weren't afraid to use their young relievers. However Francona refuses to use guys like MDC and Van Buren in close games.

Once Foulke comes back, I think the Sox should dump him. Until then, try to give him so innings in a mop up sort of role. Don't pitch him in any kind of high leverage situation.

Keith Foulke is no better than Julian Tavarez. Rudy Seanez is a streaky pitcher....our bullpen is very "hit or miss". We have a few guys who can be relied upon but some that need to be changed. I would expect the Red Sox to address that position at the trade deadline.

 

I'm just not sure what goes through Francona's head sometimes. Tavarez has not been pitching well lately but Francona goes with him anyways because at one time in his career he needed to save some games for St. Louis?? I don't think Rudy Seanez would be a great choice either but David Riske has held his own lately and where the hell is Manny Delcarmen?? He has pitched great when given the chance....apparently I just don't see what Francona does.

Given the money owed to Tavarez and his poor performance, he's basically worth nothing as a trade. Instead of eating all of the money owed to him and DFA'ing him, he should be relegated to mop up duty. As far as Seanez, trade or dump him as well. Free up a roster spot and put Hansen in there for now. I'd rather watch the rookies get their feet wet and gain the experience than watch these mediocre veterans struggle and cough up wins.

Well its doubtfull Foulke will ever get healthy agains since he hasnt being healthy once in the last 2 years.
