Wow Torre does it again. With no Mariano Rivera tonight Torre pulls Darryl Rasner (who could have given them an extra inning) and he brings in Mike Myers for 1 BATTER!!!!. Are you telling me Curtis Granderson is so damn dangerous that he has to bring in the lefty specialist? Now hes stuck hoping Proctor can get him through the 8th inning to get him to Farnsworth and even if Proctor gets him through this inning he cant use him tomorrow. AGAIN thats how you burn your relivers out.

You are exactly right. Although it would be more fun or me if the Yankees lost these games, the nightly parade of 5 pitchers will pay dividends down the road.

4 innings 5 runs so far...another quality start by Wang? The last time the Yankee fans made the excuse that it was hard for him to focus with such a big lead. Are there any excuses tonight? or is this just a carbon copy of most of his starts. Once he puts a few men on, he falls apart, because he can't pitch out of the stretch. At least that's what Suzanne Waldman and John Strerling are saying.

I think you need to stop jumping all over the Yankees starters when Boston Dirt Dogs comes up with a headline reading "Yankee Stadium Spells Trouble for Sox Rotation Next Week"

Sox fans, including the Dirt Dogs, are not deluding themselves that we are getting quality starts from anyone other than Schilling and Beckett and occasionally Wakefield. I find that Yankee fans over rate Wang's performances. I am not seeing the same pitcher they are seeing. I see a guy that is extremely mediocre.

Edit: The Dirt Dogs might be changing their minds now that Sheff is on the shelf.

I have always said this about Torre. Hes a great manager when it comes to managing personalities in the clubhouse BUT in a tight series hes the last manager I want making strategic decisions. One overlooked thing that happend in the 04 ALCS that really pissed me off was when Torre used Gordon to close out that 19-8 game. WTF is he doing in that game? Then you wonder why he sucks in game 5.

The front three for the Red Sox is much more formidable than the front three for the Yankees.

1. Mussina

2. Johnson

3. Wang

vs

1. Schilling

2. Beckett

3. Wakefield

Throw in the fact that your three and four starters aren't exactly world beaters. Small and Wright? Pauley and Clement are probably worse, but we know they won't be their all year. Jon Lester and Craig Hansen could probably pitch league average innings for the Red Sox come August. If not, the Red Sox could probably make a move for a fourth or fifth starter. The Yankees? Not many teams are attracted to the Yankee farm system. The one jewel of your farm system is untouchable. Who are the Yankees going to center their deal around? If they were smart, they'd deal Wang, who is overvalued, and probably could net them Willis if they threw in Duncan and another prospect. Realistically, they won't move Wang, so they won't be able to improve their rotation. I mean hypothetically, they could add a Kyle Lohse, or Livan Hernandez, but is that really going to make them a better team come October?

I'm pretty sure if the Yankees could get Willis with Wang involved they would do it. Willis is much better.

By games 6 and 7 every arm in the Yankee pen was a limp noodle.

Ballgame!

That was a huuuuuge win for the Tigers in my opinion.

Yeah it was. Now they ended this series on a high note with some confidence to face the Red Sox. Not too bad though, I was expecting the Yanks to lose because the YES announcers said that the last time the Yanks swept the Tigers was something like 80 years ago lol. Oh well can't hold down the best team in baseball for too long.

The Yankees apparently don't think so. In the Beckett deal, the Marlins wanted to start the deal with Wang, the Yankees immediately killed talks.

That proves the Yankees don't know what the hell they are doing.. They sign bums like Pavano and Farnsworth but will keep Wang over Dontrelle Willis? lol. They are both about the same age and Willis is MUCH, MUCH better at this point. I am glad the Yankees don't have what it takes to get Willis. Actually they do..if they would give up a package including Hughes and Duncan-- But they won't..and for this I am thankful.. We have a hard enough time hitting s***** lefties... Nevrmind a stud like Dontrelle with that funky delivery of his.

Well that was the off-season, I think if it came down to it the Yankees wont let this season crash and burn. They clearly need another pitcher.

Maybe they should have moved then. As is stands right now, Wang's trade value is slipping dramatically. The Marlins should be shot if they take him over a combo that Arizona, or either the Los Angeles teams could offer.

I dont think Willis was for trade at the time and I also think the Yankees didnt want to take a chance on Beckett because of the injury situation with him.

Don't tell me that you would prefer Wang over Beckett.

It wasnt my decision. I was saying that the Yankees didnt want to give up Wang for a pitcher like Beckett that has had injury trouble in the past. Clearly Beckett has been better then Wang.
