Man United won the League Cup the other day by beating Wigan 4-0. Not sure what that has to do with the fishing thread, but I figured I'd throw it out there.

I went to the League Cup Final in 04. Sang God Save the Queen with 70,000 people. Shame we lost 2-1. It was a great day out though.

My Red Devils are making a real run at Chelsea. 2-1 win over Bolton coupled with Chelsea's 0-0 draw puts them just 7 points back with another match with the leaders this season.

 

If they could steal the League, well that would be awesome.

 

And are the Bhoys kicking ass or what?

I think it's a pointless sport, not allowing you to use your hands, and then you play for 90 minutes and the final score of the game is 1-0, 2-1, or some other low scoring score. What a waste of time. No offense.

 

that's probably some of the dumbest stuff i've ever read in my life. if you played futbol at a high level you would understand that scoring a goal is no easy task. imagine hockey was played on a field the size of a futbol field and there were 4 forwards and 6 defenders. how often do you think they would score?

p.s.- you do use your hands in futbol, a lot more than you think.

hell yah!! glad we have some irish national team supporters. I have very strong irish roots, great grandparents emmigrated right from the county cork, so naturally for in-country games i root for the county cork, they actually won some irish cup. I follow the national team more so than i do the inhouse games.

 

soccer is a great game. i love playing it. my dog and I use to play that, shed chase me with the ball. ;)

Ya, I saw them talking about it on PTI. Just ESPN trying to gain the interest of the american public for the world cup!

I love soccer---def my favorite sport growing up (that and baseball--but in HS soccer was better) My daughter (our 1st child) first kicked during the last world cup---so i know i have a soccer player on my hands--and she already loves playing with her "dora the explorer" soccerball!!!!:D

 

anyway i think that if the USA get's out of their group then they can do some damage and go deep--but getting out of their group is going to be very tough. They have to go through Italy, Ch Republic, and Ghana (they can either be great or suck) just to get out of their group---and that's a tough draw! I think that a lot of people don't even realize that the WC has been going on for a while now and this is just the WC Final coming up---the USA had to do a lot just to qualify for it. With that said if i had to pick a winner this time around I would have to go with Italy. They always seem to peak whenever the WC comes around no matter how they are playing leading up to it!

The U.S. doesn't just need to "escape" the pool, they had better win it or else there's a good chance of facing Brazil in the Round of 16.

 

Yea they defently need to win it or else they will face brazil. I think they can though. There big centerback Oguchi can defently win the battle wth Koller. If we beat the Czecks we are in good position to win the group.
