  1. Welcome to the club. I love diversity of opinion.
  2. .898 career at Fenway.
  3. Probably. If Seattle is uninterested in trying to re-sign Suarez, I don't see them going after Bregman either. I'll give you one other factor. Bregman has made a gazillion $$$. He likely wants a shot at the HOF. He could opt for a longer deal in Fenway, at a big AAV discount, just to accumulate numbers. He is currently 16.9 bWAR short of 60.
  4. Bell won't be here. I'd bet serious money that Casas will out-perform him.
  5. It was $31M including deferrals He got injured If no one wanted to pay him last year, will they want to pay this year? I have no doubt he'll improve on the $31.2M CBT * 2 that he opted out of. It is a matter of how much other teams are willing to go.
  6. LOL! I have to go tell my spouse that someone called me young. I just thought that you were being generous, and didn't want to call "Gray+Oviedo equals Buehler+Gio" an ill-founded comparison.
  7. All this nonsense falls under the category of "Yes, anything can happen". It's like me arguing against acquiring a #2 because Early & Tolle "might" develop into legitimate #2 SPs. Yes, that can happen. But I plan on things that are more likely than less likely.
  8. What? You think Oviedo can out-perform Buehler's 5.45?
  9. Is "interesting" a euphemism for "ridiculous"? And he was actually ranked #1. Pitt passed on him to save money for later signings. Detroit passed because they wanted to build an uber-rotation. I forget the other guy.
  10. Let me guess: Lowest payroll in baseball Sell off Fenway Park for housing Create environment destruction on a global scale
  11. Then we are the best team in the AL, imo. And imho, if we add a #2 and either Okamoto or Marte, then we are the best team in the AL.
  12. Obviously everything depends on price, but Alcantara and Lodolo are my two primary foci. I think they would be more reasonably priced, and could be extension candidates. I'd prefer Burns or Chandler, but that would require a serious commitment of prospects.
  13. I still can't believe that the Yankees whiffed on him. He'd have been perfect for them. And even with $189M left, I could still make a case for them trading for him.
  14. You don't know how interested they were, or if they were interested at all. You don't know if we have $20M to spend, or if we have $40M to spend. And you don't know which positions we are prioritizing.
  15. I'd be very happy with that. As I mentioned before, our problem this year wasn't hitting. It was our #4-5-6-7-8 SPs. They went 15-26. With a better bottom half of our rotation, we'd have run away with the division. I know our rotation is deeper now, and we lost some hitting, but I want our #1-4 SPs to be favored in almost every game.
  16. Every team has things that can go wrong? Bregman can miss 48 games again. Alonso can revert to his 2.6. Bichette can revert to his -0.3. Or, maybe Duran can revert to his 8.7. Maybe Ceddanne continues his development and delivers a 5.5. Maybe Casas reverts back to his .830 from his first three years. Maybe Campbell reverts to his minor league player of the year form. Maybe Mayer fulfills his top-15 rating. You can't make plans based on everything going wrong.
  17. He's going to spend between the 1st and 2nd tax levels. You may or may not like the players that Breslow signs, but the spending levels are pretty likely. I'd make a serious wager we go over the first level.
  18. You're being ridiculous. It is fine to anticipate that any given player might get injured. But you sometimes sound like you're waiting for a meteor to hit Fenway. Most, but not all, of our players should be healthy.
  19. 1-I picked Alonso for the RS in the FA contest. But I believe Okamoto is a better fit because he can also play 3rd. 2-Marte would be a real nice fit. But AZ has to trade him and I need to see the price before passing judgement. I'm also not sure AZ is interested in another LH OF. Thomas in CF is not a great option, but they seem to like his defense. That said, I don't get caught up in wanting any one particular player. There are still 9 FAs that could help us, and numerous trade possibilities.
  20. 12/11/24 we traded for Crochet. 12/10/24 we signed Chapman 2/15/25 we signed Bregman It's early.
  21. I think the IRS, and the SEC, and FINRA, etc., frown upon making up depreciation numbers. I've done some fancy footwork on impairment write-downs, but depreciation is locked in.
  22. That's what I like about Okamoto. He's a solid alternative to Mayer, Casas, or Yoshida, if something goes wrong. And the downside, imho, is a very good backup for a reasonable price.
  23. That's always the fun part. Did teams trying to get ahead of the competition do so by overpaying? Will there be players struggling to find a contract in January, or will there be teams struggling to find a play in January. I always, always measure these things by who is left, not who has signed. My favorite DD signing was JD. JD waited and waited. Boras put out one leak after another about the number of teams interested. But DD knew the RS had the best offer and never batter an eyelash and landed him at a good price.
  24. Just go position by position and compare what we did in 2025, compared to what FG considers out replacement(s). If we add Marte, I am betting that we will have a better OPS in 2026.
  25. We lost parts of Anthony, Abreu, and Bregman.
