    IMHO, there are always no shortages of trade targets. The issue is that other GMs know we are desperate, and won't mind holding out their best targets until the trade deadline. At most, Chapman is $45M/3 and Adames maybe $100M/4. SF would owe us maybe $150M. And I find it hard to believe that their GM (or any) would admit to that level of mistakes. They should, but that's unusual.

    90% of the FA talk centered on Bregman and Alonso, and #3 might've been Eugenio Suarez. 90% of the trade talk centered on Marte and Paredes. Almost any combination of those 5 players, even in retrospect, figures to be a disaster. But I'd still pursue Paredes.

    That's not so much weird as hanging-upsidedown batschitt crazy. I've seen players become lackadaisical, I've never seen a player, at any level, ever give up an at-bat, even when they were warming up in batting practice. Even pitchers want to take their hacks.

    Not worried. Last year, it was Mayer, before that, it was Story. Before that, it was Sale. And I probably missed a few guys.

    So Luzardo hits the#8 hitter, walks the #9, Duran is ahead 1-0, then swings at a pitch 6 inches outside that he could not have made good contact on. Poor fundamentals.

    I'd have thought it was so obvious that it didn't need to be mentioned. It was only about a week ago where some of the posters were screaming that Monasterio should be starting over Story. But starting Monasterio over the .606 Mayer on a L-L matchup? god forbid! Complaining for the sake of complaining.

    I once again agree. Mayer has a .451 OPS this month. Giving him a day off against a tough lefty is a nothing-burger.

    Yes and yes. The analyticals do a pretty good job figuring out who can which pitcher well. I'd bet that, over a full season, that Monasterio will outhit Yoshida against lefties. TBH, there is a decent chance he will outhit Duran against lefties. And Cora seemed bound to go L-R-L every game. I wouldn't go L-L-L, but past that, having a better hitter ahead of a worse hitter, probably works better.

    Unless extending a guy is part of the deal, there is very little difference between being 24 and being 29. Soto was always healthier than Alvarez, but I am not concerned about either one declining.     I'd say it would definitely get their attention. But I'd hate to lose Tolle. I wonder if Houston could add Paredes and we give them Duran, but keep Eyanson

    Monasterio has a career .715 against lefties. Yoshida has a .651 against lefties.

    It was a great theory, except for the fact that Breslow was the busiest GM in RS history.

    Soto got the Nats 3 top-10 types plus a guy currently ranked in the 50-60 range. Arias might be a #20-30 type, an Tolle probably top 10-15. I only mention this because, occasionally, a name like Neto will pop up, even though there might be a -0- chance of him getting traded. And a month later, fans will be complaining that we didn't trade for him, notwithstanding the fact that we never reasonably had the resources to acquire him. I figured I'd get that out of the way early this time.

    One of my Philly phriends says he cannot pitch with guys on base. IMVHO, if it tipping pitches, he'd be bad every outing, and not flipping between AS-level production and really bad.

    Therein lies the problem. We no longer carry that type of weight. The opening bid has to start with Arias + Tolle.
