    Just like with our over-abundance of pitching, baseball karma typically addresses these problems herself. As someone else said, if everyone keeps playing like they are, then who to cut/demote is a good problem.

    He was too quiet last June 25. But his work in the off-season was nothing but home runs so far. You probably should've had something positive to say.

    I don't think it was that bad. A couple of gambles for sure, but I think the press over-estimates how much teams are willing to give up for two months of work.

    We had discussions about this at the time. Our W/L record in one-run games v non-one-run games: Mar 0-2 1-2 Apr 2-2 9-13 May 3-5 10-9 Jun 1-3 11-11 Jul 5-1 16-3 Aug 1-0 2-0 Obviously July is the outlier, but the other months looks fairly normal once you adjust for one-run games.

    My point is that those stats were expected to decline when he went to fulltime. Going from platoon hitter to fulltime, and maintaining your stats is huge.

    While that is undoubtedly true, there should be consideration to the moves he made, at the time he made them. And at least some consideration for the peripheral stats and sample sizes. Mead's .500 OBP and Miller's 0.00 are likely not sustainable.

    I mentioned that on MLB-R. Had we landed Miller a little earlier, I think we'd have had a market for Watson, even if it was only a non-Rule 5 lottery ticket. I like all our guys, but we might have to make decisions we don't necessarily like.

    It's kind of a fantasy, because every team has guys that are injured and wondering 'what if'. But if we got Crochet and Anthony? If our rotation for a 5-game was Crochet-Gray-Suarez? And throw in Tolle for a 7-game series? But we cannot digress from the task at hand, which is tonight's game.

    From 6/7-year end, Story was one of the best SS's in BB with an .839 OPS, and #23 in fWAR among all players. He's at that magic age of 33, BUT his production might've been caused by playing thru an injury. He annoyed the ever-living crap out of me, but is important to acknowledge the various possibilities.

    A leadership-type statement from Story would be that he expects to be the #26 guy on the bench playing as needed.

    It is definitely a breakout season. He has similar stats as last year, but is now playing fulltime against lefties. That's a big difference over being a platoon player. And he projects to be a 6-WAR player.

    My fear is that Story will return looking for his starting gig again.

    Lots of stuff can change between now and then, but I want the kids that got us here to be on the roster.

    Sandoval should be ridden as hard and as long as we can. He's one of the bridges we need to get to our key 1-2-3 playoff SPs.

    I'll be glad to engage in a pro-for-pro debate on almost anyone. And I expect to be real close. But I have a -0- chance of properly projecting prospects, particularly those further away. The only ones that can put a number on Eyanson are professional scouts. And I bet that even they would have seriously fluctuating values. BTV probably has the same chance as I do. -0-.

    Before the day is out, someone will be blaming Breslow for not landing Rice and Schlittler.

    The way I look at it, if get his career numbers, I'll be happy. If we get his 2026 numbers (injuries aside), I'll be happy. You want some interesting numbers: Career K/W =1.333 Hrs/600 = 19.47 Career K/W =1.333 Hrs/600 = 19.43 He might be the guy he use to be.
