    I think by now that everyone takes it for granted that teams move money around. There is no reason to be loud or quiet.

    Kind of an amateur opinion on my part, but I think Breslow places more value on certain traits (extension for example) than other GMs.

    It has to be Bichette. Lindor has $170M due until age 37. That's likely to be a nightmare. Bichette has a very difficult contract, but we might get salary relief based on him being way over-market, and the relief can be based on whether or not he opts-in or opts-out. And just for funnsies, since Bichette's position should be 2B in 2027, that would make Mayer expendable. I think adding a good prospect might get us a whole lot of payroll relief.

    I mostly agree. I'd like to see some more visibility on #3, before I commit big resources. I like the idea of Ward. He's a pure rental, but that will be reflected in his price. And I'm guessing that BA would be easier to deal with than LAA. The negative is that Ward is a really good fit for Philly. Maybe make BA a solid offer before DD gets committed.

    They had a big luck factor last year, and Springer became 36. And Vlad seems to save up all his hitting for the playoffs.

    A lot of times, I give genius points when I think to myself 'what made anyone think this was a good idea?'. And 50 years later, we will be looking forward to hearing it. That's genius!

    That's always one of those underlying factors that get overlooked. Not to get too Machiavellian, but some of these RPs are there to be abused. Watson has 13 appearances of 2 or more IPs, with respectable results. And if he gets worn out, it's not a large cost relative to some of our young SPs.

    Shades of Mortimer & Randolph Duke (2 of the greatest casting decisions ever) screaming "I want trading reopened right now. Get those brokers back in here! Turn those machines back on!"

    That's why I usually sign in after the game is over. I'd prefer to talk BB during the game, and not listen to people losing their $chitt when the lead-off hitter gets to a 1-2 count. I don't mind the complaints about a pitch challenge on the first pitch of the game, but the pitch-by-pitch criticisms are a bit too much.

    It's always the same. Last week, we had no chance. Now he wants Mulligan so that he can later say that he was right that we should've tanked, or that he was right that we should've gone all-in.

    I tend to think these things are all overrated, and some guys come along slower and faster than others, but at least a tiny bit of concern is warranted.

    Once again, thanks for the nice job on the scouting reports. Just in case you run out of things today, is it possible to get a quick synopsis of the overslot/under-slot amounts? It's become about as important as the draft picks themselves.

    Probably impossible to explain without inside information. They could genuinely like some of the low-cost guys, and the savings is just a bonus. If Schaffer provides enough savings to sign the other overslot, it might be well worth it. FWIW, I was not impressed with the draft, but there is a huge amount of variance past the top-10.

    For the BP, I'm keeping Chapman, Whitlock, Slaten, Guerrero, Moran, Watson and Bello. Gray, Suarez, Tolle, Early and Bennett as starters. Then what becomes of Sandoval? If Watson was the odd man out, and I am not convinced he is, there has to be a trade market for him. He has a 3.31/3.86 ERA/FIP with a 32/11 K/W in his past 35.1 IPs. He might be better than anyone in the Nats' BP.

    We were 2-3 before today. There is a 50% you can be 2-3 or worse, or 3-2 or better. IRT to road extras, we were 6-4 in 2024. Add 1-8 to that and we are 7-12. I don't think there is anything else there besides normal variance. The Yankees are 1-4 in extras on the road this year.
