    I'd be open to trade for Bichette, but with the two player options, he's difficult to value. How much would you pay if we was a FA v his current salary. That's what NYM would have to kick in.

    Primarily DH, but his work in LF is passable. He had a 114 OPS+ last year, with 37 HRs, and mashes lefties. It's a very good fit at what should be a reasonable price.

    Ceddanne is arguably the best CF in the AL right now. Whitlock is probably a top-10 RP.

    The Mets at home are still a decent team, and we face McLean and Peralta the first two games. I'd be very happy taking 2-3. Very happy.

    Nothing unreasonable here. In fact, I'd go slow as well. But still see no reason not to trade a non-premium prospect for someone like Adell.

    Undoubtedly so, imo. This is our sOPS+ by batting order position. Split sOPS+ Batting 1st 70 Batting 2nd 74 Batting 3rd 91 Batting 4th 115 Batting 5th 97 Batting 6th 108 Batting 7th 100 Batting 8th 99 Batting 9th 106 The lead-off and the 2-slot are by far our biggest weaknesses. We are 29th in OPS at the 1-hole and 27th in OPS in the 2-hole.

    And my point continuing to be that Story was going to be our starting SS this year. When people start looking back with 20/20 vision, it should start with 'who can reasonably have been replaced'. Story, Narvaez, and Anthony were always going to be the Red Sox 2026 regulars. And those are three of our biggest problems.

    Personally, I like the ride. I don't mind tanking, if I see no road, but this doesn't feel like it.

    We have 8 guys that *might* be able to pitch, including Crochet, Bello, and Sandoval. If we lose rookies due to an innings limit, they could be useful. If we really knew their status.

    Good. I appreciate the remark. It's like with the Yankees losing Judge and Fried, and not being able to win. It doesn't mean that they are a bad team, or failed to have a contingency plan. In addition to Story, Duran, and Anthony, we also lost the #2 CY from last year.

    Every time we win, we move closer to being buyers rather than sellers. But still plenty of time. If Pitt was going to do something stupid with Bubba or Hernandez (they won't), then I'd make the move and worry about it later. Outside of that, I can easily wait two+ weeks before making a decision.

    I don't see it, but I don't think it's ridiculous. Three real players, but none are a lock to be regulars.

    The second rule of thumb is that, if you are given $42M in spending money, you do not tell your boss you are going to spend it on a SS that was worse than the one you currently have. No one on the entire planet would've spent $42M+ to replace Story with Bichette.

    So your take here is that we were going to cut or bench a 4.1 bWAR Story in favor of a 3.2 bWAR Bichette (or equivalent)? And his $42M+ contract? C'mon, everyone knows that Story was the presumptive starter.
