  1. It's hard not to like a guy that was suspended for being at a casino at 9AM on game day. And unfortunately, a lefty. And I don't think you'll like him at SS. And he finished the year poorly. That said, he's got a huge ceiling. I would do it and hope for the best.
  2. I'm a Devers agnostic, but there is almost no chance I'd have switched him to 1B in mid-season.
  3. The point being is that we aren't going to rotate guys. We don't do that. Any days off that Yoshi Duran gets will be against a lefty. Romy will pick up those ABs.
  4. Not the same thing. In FB, you have more guys on the bench than you have starting. With 53 guys on the active roster, you can have 11 starters on defensive and 16 defensive guys on the bench. You can't mix and match as well in BB. In FB, no one even knows the the difference between a DE, an edge defender or an outside LB. In BB, no one plays the IF except for infielders. Catchers only catch. Pure DHs usually just DH. In FB, your starting lineup is always your starting lineup, except for injury or incompetence. The idea of rotating guys in and out is based on whether it's a running down or a passing down.
  5. That won't impact Masa. We will very likely carry 13 hitters and pitchers. If Hicks is DFAd, he gets replaced by another pitcher. The focus has to be on the 13 hitters. For the sake of discussion, call Duran the DH, and presume we add a 2B/3B. That leaves 4 slots. Wong (or any BUC) will be one. Very likely both Romy & DHam will be two more. Assuming Casas starts off on the IL, that leaves one more spot. If it is not Masa, do you have a preferred player? I don't. Duran will be the #4 OF, and Masa the #5. Romy/DHam back up the IF. Guy like Sogard & Eaton provide very little additional value.
  6. If they need a day off, they will likely just get a day off. Any days off that Yoshi gets will be against a lefty. Romy will pick up those ABs.
  7. We don't really do that. Last year was different with the Devers trade and Yoshi's injury and rust. But in 2024, Duran, Abreu, Romy & Casas combined for 7 ABs. The 4-OF issue aside, we mostly just do some R/L platooning, but not resting. In 2023, Yoshida & Turner received 561 of the 630 ABs.
  8. Good point/never thought of it. That will change all the estimates.
  9. If he hits like is was supposed to, the he can get regular reps as a short-side DH platoon, a backup LF, and an emergency 2B. That provides value, and he can work on his 2B skills in winter ball. 2 years ago, Romy was scary at 2nd, and now he is borderline okay. Or at least unnoticeable.
  10. That's the mystery meat. Maybe someone else can explain it, but my understanding is that you have contracts, arbitration, and pre-arb. Contracts are probably perfect, and arbitration is probably 95%+ good. So let's say you have 12 goes under contract, and 6 guys under arb. We know that number. That leaves 8 guys that are 0-3 years. Wouldn't the calculation be 8 * $820,000 plus some smaller additions for year 1, 2, and 3? I would think so. But is there a minimum you can pay a minor leaguer if you bring him up for, say 10 days?
  11. I have a good friend that knows a lot about real BB, and still thinks KC can be a 2B. The problem is the RS have to pick a lane for him.
  12. They needed a non-40 guy is all. Most of these 'low-40' guys are interchangeable.
  13. IMHO, a slight overpay by the NYM, but they were desperate for a #1 SP. They have some talent in the rotation, but it would be difficult to call any of them even a #2.
  14. In the last 15 games, Campbell had 2 doubles, -0- triples, -0- HRs, with a 19/6 K/W. I really wish he had finished strongly.
  15. Thank you. I'm just addressing Ceddanne as a plan for 2B, along with the Duran chatter. Duran played RF last year, but it's not a real thing.
  16. I'd also throw in that, in the playoffs, the elite SPs throw more innings relative to the regular season.
  17. By necessity. Romy was playing 1st, and DHam was not going to be trusted starting against lefties. Once Lowe came on board, Ceddanne mostly went back to CF. Last 2B start was on 8/24 (?). And only had 76 ABs there, but the .309 OPS probably didn't help. I'm almost certain that we either get a 2B/3B from the outside, or we platoon Romy/DHam.
  18. As did the Phillies, even though most of it was in-house Klentak guys. NYY $90M on Cole, Fried, Rendon Phillies $84M on Wheeler, Nola, Walker, traded for Luzardo and #1 on Painter LAD $108M on YY, Glasnow, Snell and Ohtani prorated RS $74M on Crochet, Gray, Suarez As a % of payroll, it feels like the top teams spend the same as we do on pitching.
  19. It wouldn't be worth it. FG projects Masa at .765 and Suarez at .755. A righty helps, and a possible backup 3B, maybe. But we shouldn't spend $20M for that. If we sign Suarez, it has to be for 3B.
  20. I see no chance of that happening. Compared to a platoon of Romy/DHam, I don't see Raffy as an improvement offensively or defensively.
  21. I'd have no problem cutting him at an appropriate point, but my guess is that his bounce back value is higher than his trade value. RPs bounce back every single year.
  22. I'm a Raiders fan. We hate everyone. Some more than others.
  23. He had to go. They had choice between starting Gray & Suarez at SP & 3B or starting Gray & Suarez at 3B & SP.
  24. The 3rd option is that they don't even have a lineup yet. Probably a moot point now that they traded for Robert. Another move I don't get.
