  1. I dont operate scared. Short term contracts = scared money
  2. If the penalties reset, okay. They dont need to get under next year, and understand Grays contract comes off. But still , if they have to get under soon, that that means more short term deals and I dont like em.
  3. Now I see what the problem is with Bowdens tweet.
  4. We're bringing back the providence grays
  5. I dont see much wrong with this commentary, Cards shave 20m and get a prospect. I do feel they could have done better and this might slightly favor us. But 36 yrs old, 1 yr, I dont think they could have gotten much more than Clarke. Fitts was a DFA anyways and actually adds value to the deal for me (because it keeps the 40 man roster count neutral). Fitts was a guy who wasnt going to survive the 40 man roster crunch, and Gray has a sweeper and a cutter, two "in" pitches with a sinker and only throws his 4 seam like 22% so smells like a breslow guy. I like the move in a vacuum. My only concern is that now if you get Bregman/Alonso , its hard to see them dipping under the tax this year. And I dont really love going into a season knowing that we'll have to dip below a tax soon cuz that means budget cuts coming eventually. And Im not certain this team is good enough to warrant kicking the "get below the tax" can down the road. Now if htey are just like whatever about the tax and the repeater penalties, great!
  6. Moon: Who will be the first shoe to fall MVP: Refsnyder 1/4 Drew: thats a small shoe According to Googla/AI: US shoe size of 1/4 is typically a very small infant size. It corresponds to a foot length of approximately 3.5 inches and can vary slightly depending on the brand and specific size chart. Infant size: Size 1/4 is an infant size, often for babies between 3-6 months old.
  7. Baesball needs a fight.
  8. In hockey, they wont wear facecages because they want to fight. In baseball, you arent allowed to make eye contact with the other team.
  9. S-A-W-F-T Where is big cass when you need him?
  10. They just wanna use the uberstine had to call an uber line at some point next season, when we need a 9th starter as a one game emergency fill-in in August
  11. Fair, my point was about not letting these depth options prevent us from going after talent whether that be trade or free agency. I like having talent in the minors whom we can call up when we need. So I would see no reason to rush Casas out, even though we all want to see a FA signed. Guys get hurt and I agree, he could enter the fold at DH if its unsettled when Casas returns.
  12. You can use Yoshida, Campbell, Romy, and Mayer and Casas to talk yourself out of signing anyone. But Id rather have depth and allow for some wiggle room in case one of the aforementioned doesnt seize a spot or if they have injuries. Last year, we had like 3-4 dudes off waivers starting every day. And we were never really a world series threat. So we need to improve. And guys get replaced on improving teams.
  13. I think one of Bichette/Bregman/Marte and one of Alonso/Schwarber and then you add a very solid or better pitcher, and most of us will be high fiving.
  14. Santander played 30 games at DH for them and had a .565 OPS Springer played 82 games for them at DH (highest on team) and had a .959 OPS (highest on team), post-season moments as well, The Blue Jays had a lot of contributions to their pennant from the DH spot, both in the regular season and postseason. They also had Vlad, Bichette, Varsho, and Kirk We need firepower and a lot of it, at the very least, we need to replace the production lost by Bregman and Devers. One of Bregman/Bichette/Marte (trade) AND Schwarber will do that. Of course, there are other players in the league who can hit as well. But if we go forward with Yoshida/Romy platoon, 1) Romy is probably our best hitter, so I hope hes playing a position when hes not DH'ing against lefties and 2) We'll need to add at least a few blue chip mashers elsewhere or we will be noodlebat city and sellers at the deadline.
  15. If Marte is available , we simply HAVE to be aggressive there. Hes better than Bichette, probs. I can see two trades, one would center around an MLB outfielder, and one being a pure prospect package.
  16. I think/hope if we get outbid for Schwarber/Alonso/Bregman/Bichette , theyll trade before settling on Suarez and Polanco. Maybe more hope than think.
  17. Raines over Baines. But this isnt really a case for keeping Baines outta the hall because Raines is in as well (I think). But still, Raines over Baines!
  18. Bravo, Hugh! I especially like the bold. Not saying be LA or be NY, just saying eat into the payroll gap!
  19. Wait now Im all crossed up. Which one is Blaze Jordan and which one is Blaze Alexander. Also, Blaze would make a great name for a bassett hound.
  20. Prob depends a lot on if we get 1st half suarez or second half suarez. Similarly, it depends (not as much) on if we get 2025 Polanco (135 OPS+) or career average Polanco (110 OPS+)
  21. Yes, 165m for breg, prob about 210m for bichette (because hes younger), so thats 375 and not sure on king but I doubt hes 125. So if you are willing to spend a half bil prob have room for other moves too like Matz, refsnyder, cheap first baseman like Hoskins or Bell
