  1. I agree, Gleybar Torres got 22m and Bogaerts is better. Inflation is real, we'll just have a revolving door of one-and-dones at a similar AAV.
  2. Bogaerts has -80 trade value units, to Tatis' 83 I would do Cedanne, and Harrison for Bogaerts (they eat half , so hes -40 units) and Tatis
  3. I can see us dealing Early and Harrison for position player(s) and then grabbing anotehr starter. BUt I fully agree that at least one (probably more than 1) pitcher would have to be on the move for roster balancing purposes. Bello, Sandoval, Crawford, Early, Tolle, Uberstine, Drohan, Criswell, Dobbins, Harrison, Sandlin is a lot of guys competing for 2 spots (behind Crochet, Sonny, and the pitcher we would be trading for)
  4. Hope hes been putting in the time at the yoga studio, because not being a f*ing stiff isnt exactly the guys MO
  5. Well , SOMEBODY did say that Breslow is not flexible , but that somebody was sacked for it. But , I mean, going after the guy who made the charge doesnt exactly reek of innoncence.
  6. Yes, he was one of the best pitchers in MLB last year before his injury. But he really struggled upon returning ,and he carries significant injury risk.
  7. Fit Finlay? Does he have his trusty shaleleigh? Is Hornswaggle in the sidecar?
  8. I was interested for a bit becuase of the splitter but Id rather have Senga or even better yet Imai
  9. One reason is because you arent getting Marte without Early in the package, now that 30 teams are confirmed interested because "duh"
  10. Well, you should because an .800 OPS for the slowest donkey in the league who doesnt have a position is a chump. Plus he doesnt swing enough.
  11. Aristotles scientific method, ever hear of it? You have to keep other variables constant to assess one variables impact. So many changing variables heres, makes argument transparently bad-faith.
  12. Hi, you are vastly overrating Cedanne McNoodlebat the Fourth (outfielder) Swap him with Abreu, add Harrison and dont look back.
  13. Multiple things can be true, I dont think its crazy to be disappointed in the way the Red Sox have operated last 5 or so years, and its well documented that they were only willing to spend money, if they could shed money. I dont think its crazy to point to the fact that Crochet was traded for, and extended with 2 years of team control which lowered the AAV on the extension. Essentially giving up prospects/value to get an ace at an affordable AAV vs just getting an ace. Id love to have Kyle Teel right now. However, this overlooks that to "spend" the right guys have to be there. And Crochet is/was much better than anyone they could have signed in free agency. Im not sure how much the 2 years remaining on the deal, meaning they could extend at a non top rate AAV factored into getting Crochet vs purely being enamored with his talent. But despite what the red sox say (the opposite) they have been cautious with the payroll these last 5 years, and its led to some frustrating roster decisions and thats a lot why we've been below average (and thats being generous) since 2018. One ALCS appearance doesnt change that. I dont think its as much a failure to spend money as it is a complacency with just rolling over the same mediocre players year after year, but thats gotten better since Breslow. Shape up or get shipped out. Dudes are gonna get squeezed on an improving ballclub and Yoshida and Casas are next.
  14. Brent Rooker doesnt get enough love. Would love to have him if we cant get Schwarber.
  15. My initial reaction was pretty close to this. The cons, initially, were 1. 20m off the "40m budget" and 2. we gave a chip for a 1 yr pitcher at 36 yrs old But in a world where borderline #4 starters are getting (and sometimes rejecting) the QO, it really shows that you just have to pay a significant AAV premium for a short term contract, especially a 1 yr contract. No way we could have gotten Sonny as a FA for a 1 yr deal less than the QO. So there was value in the trade, and looking into Clarke, his top 2 secondaries are horizontal movement pitches, which generally means great vs lefty not as much vs righty (reliever risk), and his fastball plays down (per soxprospects). I can live with it, and with all the pitches we have on 40 man, I dont think Fitts was surviving the crunch anyways. So its a good deal. Gray with his still elite peripherals (no way to cast #1 in K/BB as anything but elite), is prob still a solid #2 , albeit just a 1 yr fill-in. But he'll fill in well I suspect. And we arent going to hard stop at 20m from here (40m total), I dont think this takes us out of the running for one of the four FA (Bregman, Bichettte, ALonso, Schwarber). Doesnt mean we'll for sure get one, and I am worried about "out of nowhere" teams coming in and grabbing a few of these guys (e.g. the Giants, or a small market team with new owners who want to change their perception). But I dont think the 20m for Gray really impacts the likelihoood here. So I like the move. Full stop. Whereas initially I was an "I like the move, but... That "but" is no longer there for me
  16. Because they have shown that they would rather commit high AAV on short term contracts than commit to years.
  17. Narvaez really tailed off at the end there. But I find them to be very similar, prob slight edge going to Realmuto (expecting some positive mean-regression). But they both are below average framers, with arm, prob about average defensively. And they are both prob around 15 HR pop which is nice to have from a catcher. But I lean towards the upgrade not being worth the $$ Now if they strike out on Bregman and Alonso and Schwarber, we might get into a take offense anywhere we can get it territory, and maybe then But I dont think JT should be a priority. In no universe does he sit behind Narv tho, Narv would likely go to AAA or trade.
  18. Its not that.
  19. Reports are you have become a more credible source since you changed your picture away from shocked face Mo.
  20. I like the move, but if they are over this year (assuming CBT does not reset) then that means theyll have to dip below pretty soon, which means they'll watch the future commitments they give out this year, and if its Gray and a bunch of short term commitments (meaning not great players), then IM not sure its enough to finish better than third.
  21. I dont operate scared. Short term contracts = scared money
